Probably not for the show but we are working on some really neat projects right now. Hopefully they’ll be ready for Blade Show.

The progression looks good. I’m not experienced with the Nanolap films so I can’t say which ones would work best though others with more experience with that product will hopefully chime in.

wickededge replied to the topic Do Ceramic Stone Require Flattening? in the forum Techniques and Sharpening Strategies 5 years, 11 months ago
There is no need to flatten either of the WE ceramic stones. They are extra hard and are formed either by sintering (Micro Fine) or vitrified bond (Super Fine) so they are not bound in a matrix that disintegrates as you use it like other types of ceramic stones.

We’re definitely working toward a better solution. There are a few options we’re exploring, including a couple that were introduced here by forum members. In the meantime, the advice you’re getting here is good.

wickededge replied to the topic 'Bulge' in strop with new Wicked Edge…normal? in the forum Stropping 5 years, 11 months ago
@Beorn – that’s definitely a defect in our assembly process and we’d be happy to fix it for you. As Readheads says, it’s just attached with hot glue, so if you’re inclined, you can peel it off, scrape out the glue and re-glue it. Again, as Readheads says, you need to work fairly quickly while the glue is hot. If you don’t feel up for it or don’t…[Read more]

The link didn’t work yesterday and now takes me to a different listing showing water stones. I keep wanting to visit the listing and pass it on to our patent attorney but keep missing the one you guys have seen. If you see it again, please take a screenshot and note the seller.

Very cool video, but what kind of hair is that? It’s exceedingly thick. Each one of those slices are about the diameter of one of my hairs.

wickededge started the topic I've been away too long! in the forum Off Topic 5 years, 11 months ago
It’s been much too long since I hung out on the forum, just figured out that it has been over 2 weeks since my last visit. We did a Black Friday sale for the first time ever and were completely swamped! We’re finally starting to dig out of the hole a little. It’s great to jump on here and see all the conversations that have been going on. There…[Read more]

I still sharpen this way and I don’t check for a burr after raising it the first time.

wickededge replied to the topic Newb DLF question in the forum Abrasives 6 years ago
Aaron, I tend to do edge leading strokes to finish the knife and I think that helps with eliminating the burr.

wickededge replied to the topic Newb DLF question in the forum Abrasives 6 years ago
I want to emphasize what Marc said above about light pressure, especially when you’re finishing the edge with the last stone. Using just the weight of the stones themselves or even holding a little of that weight back from the knife in the final strokes makes a significant difference in the resulting sharpness.
