Oh, ok. I can’t wait till I get one of those. They have a cheaper one on Amazon but I would rather save the money and get a good one.

That’s the point, you always need it even after the stones are broken in. Just like you can’t see all of the tiny droplets that spread in a cloud when someone sneezes, you can’t see all of the microscopic dust and particles that are floating in the air while grinding steel.

I thought that we were not supposed to check angles with a coarse stone? And I advise you guys to wear a N95 mask when you are sharpening knives with any system. It is the particles and dust that you do not see, that you breathe in…IMHO

IMHO, It looks like an asymmetrical grind to me. If you keep the stone at the same angle you can sharpen till the cows come home and not get the look like in the photo. I guess that will work. I don’t need wide jaws for myself but there might be a bunch of fishermen that would like them.

You don’t leave your WE out and ready to go all the time? IMHO, the first new thing that they should make is wide jaws for thin knives, like fillet knives for instance.

Yeah, I figured that the washers provided the tension. The knife (first knife) that I am sharpening right now is 0.094″ at the spine. The lock closed good and snug but it didn’t seem to be too tight. I’ll keep an eye on it.

WE is number 1! I’m sure that one of the less expensive models would have won also. Maybe he chose the $900 WE model so he could feel better about choosing the Lansky?
