The sharpening methods and techniques are the same no matter which Wicked Edge Precision Sharpener Model you’re using.

Consistency in particle size and scratch pattern is very important to me.  I do not want stray deep or large scratches, if avoidable.

I recently bought two WE130 Portables.  I also own two earlier models: WE130 upgraded from Pro Pack II, and a Gen 3 Pro.  The new WE130’s did not include the lock nuts on the guide rods.  The lock nuts really are unnecessary.  If the rods were to come loose it doesn’t effect the angle because it is still in-line.  The loss of the nut allows for…[Read more]

I have used the tape intending it for both of those purposes.  To protect the steel from accidental scratches and to keep the steel dust out of the inner workings; the hinge and locking mechanism.  Whether it’s helpful and effective for those purposes, or not,  I will continue to use it, because I feel better knowing it’s there.
