Thanks for posting the video. I like the idea of using a brush versus a cloth or fingers to clean the edge between grits.

Alan replied to the topic Clay, where is the serrated sharpener? in the forum Suggestion Box 7 years ago
Hey guys. I’m probably one of the very few, but my only serrated knife is a kitchen bread knife. I gave up on spending time to sharpen my serrated steak knives, and now no longer have them. I found that a sharp 4″ paring knife makes a most excellent steak knife!
That said, I know there are plenty of military, rescue, survival, and other type s…[Read more]

Welcome to our forum, Gene. I can tell you’ve been reading a lot, as you’ve put together a most excellent shopping list! I think you’ll do just fine with that sharpener and selected accessories.

Alan started the topic My new 2017 F&S Pro Base Addition in the forum MODS 7 years ago
I finally finished the base I made for my 2017 WE F&S Pro. Pretty easy and cheap to make, and with the removal of just one nut, the base detaches and the sharpener is ready to “Stow & Go” in it’s carry case.
I love my 2016 WE Gen 3 Pro, but it’s not really very portable (Nor do I think it was designed to be.) However, the WE F&S Pro s…[Read more]

I agree with Marc, completely. A fine edge takes some time. “Zen Experience”…yep, it’s there. I enjoy my sharpening time. For faster, less precision sharpening, a grinder or belt sander work well (I’ve both). Sharpest and most refined edge I’ve found is produced with the WE.
PS – WE – What’s up with the publically displayed editi…[Read more]

Hey Mike. Welcome to our forum! I don’t think you’ll be disappointed once you receive your WE system. I purchased my WE Gen3 Pro after working with many other sharpening systems, and now there is no going back. I get amazing results sharpening my knives, as well as friends and family’s knives. I started a small sharpening service on the side…[Read more]

Welcome to our forum! I have a 2017 F&S Pro and take it on the road with me when I need to. I never have a problem to clamp it somewhere. Even so, I went to the machine shop in town and purchased a 1 inch thick 8×11″ slab of aluminum. I’m now in the process of sanding it down and rounding the corners. Then, after I paint it black, I’ll dril…[Read more]

Alan replied to the topic Setting Angle (Bar Markings vs Angle Cube) in the forum Main Forum 7 years ago
Welcome, Eric, to our great forum! You have a nice sharpener there with that WE130.
The height of the blade edge above the jaws makes all the difference. The higher the blade edge is above the jaws, the lower the angle will be. The markings on the degree bar get you in the ballpark. If the edge of your blade sits 5/8″ above the jaws, then the…[Read more]

When you have a chance, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the new WE Scissors Adapter. I’m still on the fence on whether to pick one up or not.
