Pat,  yes that is a shortcoming of the Gen 3 Pro model.  A work- around that may help is accessorize with a micro-angle adjuster mod offered by Ed K, forum member “NotSharpEnuff”.  This modification increases the angle adjustment range for each side’s individual angle adjustment on the Gen 3 Pro.  It may help with some uneven bevel knives, if the…[Read more]

A scrubbing stroke is the first stroke I utilize with each grit I use in my sharpening regimen.  I have not experienced any downside in using it.

Very long knives, like your machette example, may be too long to sharpen them all at once and may need to be repositioned and sharpened in sections.  I think a good approximation of the overall length that you can reach efficiently with the W.E. is 1-1/2 × the guide rod length.   So, with an 8″ guide rod, you should be able to sharpen a 12″ or 13″…[Read more]

IMO it is more about your technique.  I believe, by trying to follow the length of the knife as it curves down at the tip there is the inadvertent tendency to pull the strop down and onto the knife edge while doing that.  To avoid this, break down your stropping strokes into shorter sections of the k…[Read more]
