Just to be clear, all my WE gear came directly from Wicked Edge.

I must’ve been one of the “lucky” ones that got the foil lettered handles. The lettering started wearing off at some point so I just printed some small labels, problem solved. Would I want new paddles? Nahh, I’m happy with the ones I have.

In all the other forums I belong to, it is required the seller post a price for the items being sold. It is very difficult to estimate what you should ask for your items but a general rule is to account for the usage and condition, figure out a 10% to 15% depreciation depending on condition. Thank you both for the detailed replies. I just ordered the 2200/3000 grit stones and I’m planning to : remove the glass side on the 1500 I already have (with 6 micron DLF) and replace it with the 2200 stone. I am/was getting that musical sound too but I used a light swipe of Dry Bike Lubricant on the rods and the music has toned down. I believe either MarcH or tcmeyer (thank you gents) suggested it in a different thread dealing with cleaning the WE vise.

I’m waiting for Clay to chime in since he has the most experience with the new stones. I had to close my eyes twice before ordering them, it would be nice to know a bit more and make a more informed purchase.

I’ve read in several threads that some of the members here use a toothbrush and alcohol to clean the stones, I admit I haven’t doe that yet but I don’t sharpen many blades (as of now)

A question and a suggestion :

Q: which microscope did you decide on? I seem to remember you having a wifi/usb type you liked in the beginning but became disenchanted with.

S: Did you clean the 100 grit stones? They tend to get a lot of buildup (I’m too new at this so I haven’t experienced it yet but other members here were talking about it)

I had asked a similar question in a different thread, but so far I had no answers. My thinking was to use the 1500/2200 follower by the 3000/glass platen. I’m not sure which DLF to use on the glass platen tho since I’m not versed in the grit sizes. Currently I’m using a 1500/6 micron DLF as my last step.

I would definitely be interested in one of the Veff sharpeners if he still has a spare or two. As far as your guy’s ideas, they are way above my technical understanding but I’m damn glad you are doing something. All of you . keep up the good work.
