That looks expensive. You must be quite a perfectionist to not just use his 4″ stones. https://www.cgsw.us/1×4%20Resin%20Bond%20Diamond%20Stones.html

If the shears will be used for slide cutting, whether fabric or hair, you may want a polished edge.

Are you certain this isn’t surface dirt, like residue from packaging tape?

The chart has been updated to revision 10. I would appreciate feedback on the background style change. ISP problems persist; please try a hard reload (Shift+F5) if you get a 403 Forbidden error.

To avoid a possible misunderstanding I did not perform any testing or measurement myself. I am merely using the values that Clay provided. The old/original 1500 was previously listed as 5µ in the Wicked Edge grit table. Thank you for your testing however!

“The Feather Super Pro has a 10 degree bevel with a 19 degree microbevel (these measurements are plus or minus 1 degree).”
These are included angles as measured by Todd Simpson on https://scienceofsharp.com/2014/05/28/a-comparison-of-several-manufactured-blades/

Mr.Wizard replied to the topic What is the grain size in Micron of the 1500, 2200 and 3000 Diamond Stones? in the forum Abrasives 3 years, 7 months ago
I used these new optical image values in revision 9 of my grit chart. The original 1500 was apparently at least as fine as the 3000 stone, which agrees with the 5 micron value I had for it before. See the thread Organic linked above.

Two possible causes are new diamond plates that can shed grit, and letting the top of the stone drop below the edge bevel if the knife is tall enough for that. Can you post a photo?

This one looks right. Some people grind the bolster off with a spindle sander, like a big choil, which is fine if you like bolsterless knives. However it changes the feel substantially and those not accustomed to bolsterless knives may cut themselves.

Perhaps these are included angles of a secondary bevel upon which a small or micro apex bevel is formed? That would make sense for machine sharpened knives I think, as in videos I’ve seen there is usually a edge grinding operation, then final sharpening is done separately.
By edge grinding I mean things like this.

The chart has been updated to revision 9. This is a particularly large revision and I welcome comments. Significantly I identified and corrected the error of listing “CAMI” and “ANSI” separately. As always please see README.txt for details. (You may need to to a hard refresh, Shift+F5, to see the change.)
