Gordon,
I didn’t want to reply earlier because I knew the new Gen 4 was coming out. It wouldn’t be right if I had inside information and got a few more dollars for my Gen 3.
My Gen has a riser block (1.3″) added and my custom made micro-adjuster kit. It’s the later model with the adjustable tension control on the vise jaws. I have a brand new set of 1/200, 4/600, 8/100 stones. If your still interested message me back and I’ll send pics and we can work out a price. Also, no case as I have converted to carry one of my other sharpeners.
I do need your email address to send the pics.

I had trouble when the image size was over the limit. I don’t remember getting an error that said “image too big.”
That said, I now use the free software Gimp to resize my images before uploading.

Here is a pic of the ball joint parts from start to finish. Also, the Stainless knob process from cutting the barrel of and polishing it.
It takes a lot of time and effort to make the SS knobs, that’s why I offer plastic knobs which work as well for a lower price.

The ball joints come with no threaded rod attached. I cut a 12″ threaded rod to size – 2″ for the WE130 or 2.5″ for the Gen 3. Then I cement them into the ball joint with JB weld.
I also cut ~.5″ from the ball joint which lowers the stone and allows for more stone usage on the Gen3 sharpening shorter pocket knives. Since I sharpen EDC knives 90% of the time, I also printed a 3D riser block to raise the vice 1.25″. I have 12″ rods and I use Airscapes stone stops to raise the stones for taller kitchen knives. That way I can adjust the stone upward to avoid scratching the side of the blade.

If you take a close up of the writing my wife might be able to decipher. When we enlarge the pic, it blurs out.
The first 3 characters appear to be Katakana and we can’t make out the following Kanji characters.

01/07/2022 at 10:20 am #57481Micro Adjusters Kits with thumb wheel locks and spring loaded lock downs: https://knife.wickededgeusa.com/forums/topic/mods-lets-see-em/page/12/#post-51772.. The post that follows #51772 pictures a couple other adjuster setups with the metal parts. If you want to look into ordering a ready made setup you can message NotSharpEnuff to determine if he’s back up and running since he relocated. If you are interested in a source to purchase the parts used to make these setups, check out: http://www.mcmaster.com
I’m settled enough that I found all of my parts and pieces to make kits. I have 5 sets of ball joints cut and ready to add the threaded rod. The Gen3 uses a 2.5″ rod and the WE130 uses a 2″ rod.
If there is interest PM me and I’ll make the kit for you. I just ordered 20 stone stops and 12 strop covers from Airscapes and I have the protective boots on hand as well. I only have one set of SS knobs left but plenty of plastic ones on hand.

I have both models – and I prefer the 130 for small pocket knives.
With the stock Gen3 you won’t utilize the top 3/4″-1″ of your diamond stones on small blades.
In my case, I printed a riser block and raised the vise 1.25″. The LAA works fine, I just don’t like messing with the allen tool to tighten the screws. FYI, I also have 12″ rods on all my systems.
80% of the knives I sharpen are smaller pocket knives.

02/07/2021 at 10:33 am #55951I also use the DXL360S , besides the precision it is re-chargeable via USB. I don’t have to worry about changing batteries.

01/17/2021 at 11:22 am #55816BTW, I have a 3/4″ riser block installed below my Gen 3 Pro vise. I recently was doing a batch of knives and noticed that in every case, my angle settings were off by 3 degrees, relative to what I would have expected. The riser was installed to use more of the length of the stone faces when I do narrower knives. When sharpening short, narrow blades, the top 1.5″ never touched the blade.
Snippet from tcmeyer above.
I also found using the Gen 3 on smaller pocket knives leaving too much stone face above the knife and unused. I printed a 1.25″ riser block to raise the vise. I also cut the ball joint down .5″ so I could add a stone stop which is used to keep the paddle above the larger kitchen knives so it doesn’t scratch the blade.
Additionally, I use a modified micro-adjustment setup for increased angle adjustment as well as a more positive secure lockdown. This keeps the desired angle settings from drifting during the sharpening session.

Got the Laser Knife Edge Reader (LKER) a few hours ago. It comes with a spare set of batteries and a test blade. The laser is not centered or aligned when it arrives. You have to manually adjust three screws to center the beam. Not a very tight stable setup in my opinion. If you only use it a home and not take it on the road it probably will do O.K.
Testing using both the Hobbigoni and the LKER, they both show very close readings using my PM2 with a double bevel. The LKER laser dot is more focused than my Hobbigoni so it is not a perfect match.
+LKER can measure knives (spine->bevel) up to ~2.5″. Hobbigoni is limited to ~1.75″.
+LKER has an on/off button. Hobbigoni has a momentary push switch. You have to hold the button down while taking measurements. Makes it hard to take pictures of your measurements.
LKER has a maximum bevel measurement of 24DPS.
