airscapes started the topic Angle Change with Thick Stones and Handle Adapters in the forum MODS 3 weeks ago
Something that can be over looked when using aftermarket stones with the WE systems is that thicker stones, such as Whetstones and stone adapters to use other types of stones with WE, tend to decrease the maximum achievable angle. This is due to the fact that thickness of the stone and possible adapter handle move the rode away from the the k…[Read more]

airscapes started the topic 1×6 Edge Pro Stone holder for WE (Uni-Handle) in the forum Want to Sell 3 weeks ago
For those here who don’t frequent the FB group, I have created a WE style handle to mount the very popular 1×6 stone system used by EdgePro and other sharpening systems. This is not unique, there are other adapter handles that have been on the market for a while and one besides mine just unveiled last week. The hand pair is $50 and included t…[Read more]

airscapes replied to the topic Newbie with a question in the forum Welcome Mat 2 months, 1 week ago
Hi Paul! If you are totally stuck and out of options, I can make you one if you can provide exact measurements in mm with a digital caliper or mail me one of the existing feet so I can copy it.
I am guessing WE has what you need!

airscapes replied to the topic New to the forum. Just wanted to introduce myself in the forum Welcome Mat 8 months, 1 week ago
Welcome Gordon, the 60/66 is really meant to be a portable unit compared to the majority of the pervious units that had larger granite bases etc. There seems to be a lot of folks selling the older units on the facebook page. You may be able to get what you are looking for there at a faction of the cost of new. Many folks buy the system as y…[Read more]

airscapes replied to the topic Low Angle/Standard Vise Question in the forum Main Forum 1 year ago
Well no.. with the fixed jaw vise (standard and LAA) the knife will lean. This will cause one side of the bevel to be wider and one to be narrow.. Does not make the knife less sharp or work any different.. You can play with the angles reducing one side by a degree or so and increasing the other, but I get too confused and just sharpen the…[Read more]

you may want to think about an angle cube if you don’t have one. Once your bevel is more than 5/8″ above the vise, the numbers on the device are no longer accurate. I just didn’t see one in any of the photos so assume you do not have one.

airscapes replied to the topic WE66 Obsidian vs WE130? in the forum Main Forum 1 year, 1 month ago
I would keep the 130, it is larger with more room to work. There are also more accessories for it and you already have it in fort of you. The New models were to replace an older portable WE Go.. The Obsidian is Portable, small and compact. It does NOTHING different or better than the WE130, other than it comes with a C-Clamp to mount it to…[Read more]

With the riser I make, I suggest the 13″ rods and a set of stone stops. The stops will prevent you going too high and coming down on the fresh bevel or going too low on a taller knife.

you would be surprised at how many people buy complete systems and 2 months later sell them..

airscapes replied to the topic Is the WE130 overkill for me? in the forum Main Forum 1 year, 2 months ago
you better temper your time expectations.. These are all hand powered, not grinders.. 20 minute touch ups happen after stones are broken in and you are well versed in proper use.

airscapes replied to the topic Is the WE130 overkill for me? in the forum Main Forum 1 year, 2 months ago
I got a 120 when I started. We have about 6 knives to sharpen.. I added some stones, got a cam lock vise, added micro adjusters, longer rods.. in the end I have a WE130. I would highly recommend the 130 but you need to add to it the angle cube and longer rods.. 13-14″, not sure which are available for the 130. You can find them on the FB gro…[Read more]

airscapes started the topic WE 6x Custom Storage in the forum MODS 1 year, 3 months ago
Made this for myself but would be willing to make more if there is interest, but the shipping would require a box and the price of the insert are yet to be priced . I chose a 16″ metal tool box from Walmart ($20) as it was inexpensive and good quality and available nation wide if there was interest from others . Plastic boxes are lighter in…[Read more]

airscapes started the topic WE60/66 New Accessories in the forum Product Announcements 1 year, 3 months ago
After using the WE60 and WE66 I have made a couple of items for my own use and added them to the list of available accessories.
First is a riser block to lift the vise up 32 mm. This is enough to allow for the majority of the stone to be used with a short knife. Without the riser a large amount of the stone protrudes above the knife and ne…[Read more]
