I believe you need to change the “L” bracket also for the upgrade. The models non-micro angle adjustable and the micro-angle adjustable use two different mini “L” brackets.

Brian, as you see from the responses of three different, very experienced, Wicked Edge users and experienced knife sharpeners, there are different ways to deal with your issue. Part of the learning curve and the experience gained over time with a lot of sharpening done with a variety of knives is we Wicked Edge users learn how to adapt our…[Read more]

Marc H (Wicked Edge Expert Corner) replied to the topic clamping at 15 degrees in the forum Basic Techniques and Sharpening Strategies 6 years, 7 months ago
Welcome, Brian: 15º is a fairly narrow angle setting for any kitchen knife and it is at the lower end of the sharpening angle range limit for most models, WEPS. You can try to clamp the knife higher up in the jaws. All that matters is that the knife is griped securely. It doesn’t have to be sitting down on the depth key to work properly…[Read more]

Welcome to the Wicked Edge Forum, rummels. You stated the scratch pattern is very consistent and parallel. I assume you must be using some sort of magnified visual aid to allow you to examine the edge to that detail.
How is this scratch pattern oriented with the knife edge. Is the pattern perpendicular to the edge, or at an angle to the ed…[Read more]

IMO, that’s all the more reason to buy the newest most recently produced products directly from Wicked Edge or only their certified dealers, that have the authority and ability to “make good” these unfortunate and inconvenient situations.

I like sksharp do have some custom handles that did require me to label them myself. I use a Brother P-Touch Label Printer which many of us organized and OCD type individuals already own. The tape has stayed put and the printed labels haven’t worn off with years of use.

Marc H (Wicked Edge Expert Corner) replied to the topic Clay, where is the serrated sharpener? in the forum Suggestion Box 6 years, 8 months ago
As you know due to the variety of shapes and sizes and configurations, many of them proprietary, serration are a hard edge to find or create one tool that fits them all. I have seen leather wheels but even those would need to be configured to the specific serration shape like a customizable router bit.

“Stropman” Strops are truly a quality product. Robert will live on as I continue to use the strop he made for me for decades to come.

In my five or so years owning and using WEPS there hasn’t been an adapter or attachment for serrated knives. I have hand sharpened a few serrated edges using Spyderco Tri-angle stones on a clamped knife yielding pretty good results.
I have read some discussion on this forum that there are ideas Clay’s working on. Nothing concrete.

Welcome to the Wicked Edge Forum, Keith. I wouldn’t presume to know if it’s a knock-off. I can share with you what I do know about these eBay WEPS. Some of them are sold by the original machine shops that made parts for Wicked Edge. They can be prototypes or early pre-release systems assembled from parts over-runs or sub-perfect parts made dur…[Read more]

George, click the “orange open Book” at the top left. It will take you to the next page. From there you can click the link, “See all articles”, in blue print on right side, center. I believe that takes you to where you wanted to go.

Marc H (Wicked Edge Expert Corner) replied to the topic Video of cheap knife great results from wicked edge go in the forum Main Forum 6 years, 8 months ago
You might want to consider how you clamp a knife, foremost for resharpening that same knife and being able to repeat exactly what you did the first, original sharpening, such as for an edge touch-up. From the video it appeared you just arbitrarily shoved the pocket knife between the vice jaws and tightened it down. You did use the depth key b…[Read more]

Jon J, the 1200/1600 Ceramics long predated the relatively new 1500 grit Diamond stone now offered by Wicked Edge in the grit line-up. Many of us used the 1200/1600 ceramics, (now called the “Superfine Ceramics”), following the 1000 grit diamond stone. The ceramic stones were and still are sort of difficult to get a read on. They need a lot of…[Read more]

The Shapton Pro Stones are still available mounted on Wicked Edge handles from Jende Industries and Oldawan. The Pro Stones are very similar to the Shapton Glass Stones. They are also “splash and go”, not requiring a muddy slurry to exert there action, like Choseras, do. The Pro Stones are a little softer then the Glass Stones but they have a s…[Read more]

David, it’s the “art” of knife sharpening to learn how, when and where to use the different abrasive mediums and which is the best combination for the job. They each have they’re place where they work best. Some combinations certainly work better on some steels then others. The only problem is you must have them to try to use them. You can ama…[Read more]

You should be OK. As long as you didn’t receive the “your order has been shipped” email you should be fine. It may be worth a phone call tomorrow, or at least try the “live chat”. They’ve been out of the office at a “Blade Show” so when they’re back it’ll be a lot of catch-up on emails and such.
