My Klein Tools 935DAG doesn’t power off until 10 minutes of inactivity.

Welcome to the Forum! My stones have a tiny bit of slop on the guide rods but I don’t think that it’s enough to worry about. But those ball joints are bad.

I measure at each grit change myself. I use my Klein Tools 935DAG just because I like it. It says it has an accuracy at 0.2° as well. It has been working great. I just finished my 3rd Grade A military surplus M7 Bayonet a while ago. After I got the edges reprofiled with my 100 grit stone, I switched to the 200 grit and releveled to 28dps. I ran…[Read more]

Welcome to the forum, Bill! Yes, you want to use edge trailing strokes when stropping. If you use edge leading strokes the blade will cut into your strops. I think they said to go 4dps under what the edge angle is. But you should check on that because it’s been a long time since I read about it.

I know that mine clamps great! No complaints here. It even holds my M7 bayonets well that are pretty heavy. I am reprofiling them.

It is always nice to see photos, but you might benefit from the semi-round stones for curved blades.

I do not have those problems with my WE130. You need to send your vise in for a replacement so they can see what is wrong with it. My LAA locks up good and tight even with the tension adjust all the way on the minus side.

My vise clamps and LAA has worked great on every knife I have reprofiled/sharpened so far. But I always clean the oil off of the blades with alcohol first and put painters tape on them.

That is what I was going to say. It seems like he is missing some Belleville washers. My WE130 locks up tight on my LAA and 1/4″ adapter and they are solid and don’t wiggle, even with the tension adjust all the way to “-“.

I don’t know anything about the older vises, but photos help a lot with problems. If you could post some photos that would help out the guys that are very experienced.

Since you have a Pro Pack III, you may be able to use your LAA (Low Angle Adapter) to give more clearance between your stone and the thumbstuds.

Good catch, Marc! I missed that. My problem was the pressure because I detest thumbstuds, flippers, and thumbholes. And I’m careful to make sure nothing is in the way of my stones.

I made the same mistake on one of my practice knives. I believe that the mistake was when I was scrubbing the choil end of the edge to bring it even with the rest of the blade, I was using too much pressure on the side of the stone and caused it to dig in to the edge too much in the same spot. So I am much more careful with the stones now.
It’s…[Read more]

It has been deleted. Trust me, it was a troll for Ganzo.

Because he dragged up an old thread to try and sell Ganzo knives. No wonder there is not much activity on this forum. People like that would be banned on BF.
Tidbits? It would be fine if those people actually had a good reason to comment on a thread rather than to just sell their cheap knives. I would rather have one good knife than a thousand Ganzo’s.

I just noticed that this thread is from 2015. Why are these “Ganzo” people allowed on this forum??

My WE-130 works great using the LAA. It also helps to have the 12″ guide rods. The only blades I have had trouble with are the tiny spey blades. So I sharpen them by hand.
Here is a photo of my Buck 301X clamped up. I have my vise taped up to help keep steel flakes and stuff out of it.
