Yes. Zero your cube only once at the beginning of your sharpening session.  The cube will read consistently as long as the W.E. sharpener sits on a stable steady surface and has not been moved or shifted.

Looks good.  Two differences, the BESS device does capture and reflect the reading at the breaking point.  Also the BESS has been tested and calibrated to the test filaments they use.

Your’s will certainly give you an indication of relative sharpness.  Good job. You get an “A” for ingenuity.

Plain and simply, with Wicked Edge Sharpeners, you get what you pay for.  The more you spend the simpler and the easier to use the sharpener model is. None of the sharpeners are bad.  They all allow you to achieve the same sharp edge.  The more you spend the easier it us to do this.

I finish with the edge leading strokes to make sure I have removed any remnants of a burr to expose the sharpened edge.
