Wellcome to the forum. First, which model WE did you get?
Second, did you get the 50/80 stones? Using the 100/200 stones could get tedious, depending on how much metal you have to remove, but should be ok in breaking in the stones. You’d also need a magnifier of some sort to see your progress. I believe @Expidia posted a sort of intro to…[Read more]

Even though I’m a “babe in the woods” when it comes to the higher end steels, I can say that of the few folders I own, the ones with M390 blades do seem to get sharper and retain the edge longer compared to the CPM 154 and S35 VN. It is purely an empirical observation on the blades I own but in no way would that mean I am right. To be sure, the…[Read more]

I agree with you guys, protecting the family jewels is paramount! I happen to have the Finish Line grease/lube @Expidia posted but hadn’t used yet, mainly because I forgot I had it. I will give it a go in the near future.

Thanks for the pictures @Expidia and for the suggestion of the bushings /w the LAA. Do reach out to Josh in case he can help more quickly. It might also be worth trying to buff them out yourself. Worst case, it won’t work or will make it look worse, but you were already prepared to replace the blade anyway, so it couldn’t hurt to try.

@Expidia, you might try reaching out to Josh at Razor Edge Knives to see if he can clean it up for you. He does pretty phenomenal work.

@Expidia Thank you – yes, it’s hard to take it slow when I’ve seen the results it can do. Local thrift stores sell old clothing for a fortune here but that’s about it – certainly no knives – I’ll just buy some cheapies. When the low angle adapter arrives I’ll be able to get those small angles of kitchen knives.
