Great questions and suggestions, I will defiantly try. and on the other I am planning on another box to hold the accessories. I do want to build a two wheel cart that this box fits on the top (this will be my touch up kit), and the second box on the bottom and make them interchangeable, sort of like having a portable table for on the go, if and…[Read more]

Good day all,
Well on my way creating my extended hobby of sharpening knives and just wanted to know your thoughts on my new idea for a caring case for my WE and stones. all together material cost was under about $100.00 Because I used supplies I already had but looked up pricing. I haven’t decided on a handle yet, may use two on the sides or one…[Read more]

I think this is one for a support ticket with the Wicked Edge team, https://support.wickededgeusa.com/portal/newticket.
I hope you’re able to get it back up and functioning soon.

Hi Keith – Welcome! It’s Chris, and I’m glad I could help.
I also used my WE on kitchen knives, for the most part. I’ve brought back-to-life a couple of cheap paring knives, and a 9″ butcher knife, and several in between.

Thanks for the input, we always appreciate it when forum members provide usability requests (for background, I help keep the forum up and running; and for usability, I’m in kind of a facilitator role, but not the decision maker, which is in Clay’s bailiwick).
For attachments, we’ve really emphasized making them usable as embedded content in the…[Read more]

developer (ChrisB) started the topic A couple of recent spammers, but overall not too bad in the forum Forum Usability Notes and Requests 6 years, 1 month ago
The spammers seem to come in waves, where for a period of time they’ll put in the effort to make it into the forum, and then they take a couple of months off. We’ve had 2 recent successful spam posts, the first since September, and before that it was April. So, I’m just sharing this list of spam posts in case anyone finds it interesting. This…[Read more]

Hi Todd, thanks for the feedback. That’s a good suggestion; I’ve disabled the recaptcha for logins for existing users. If it turns out that this allows a way for spammers to get in, we may have to reenable it, but here’s hoping it works.

developer (ChrisB) replied to the topic Knife database (user-submitted settings) is back in the forum Task Specific Knife Sharpening 6 years, 5 months ago
Idea… We should add a field to link to youtube videos, or other video hosting, as I do see a lot of people post knife-specific videos. And then you take your settings (angles, progression, etc.) and add that to the form.

I think those fields are intended as ‘free text’ entries where you could a) put a quantitive value in the field, and b) explain that value in the corresponding field that allows notes. But, those are legacy fields that harken back to a previous version of the form, and they make not make sense in the current version.
Please everyone, send…[Read more]

I just replied to a customer support ticket, from a forum user frustrated by the image challenge delivered by reCAPTCHA during login.
I thought I would share my reply below, and also add a bit data about how frequent the issue of spammers is. In other words, we don’t take it lightly that the reCAPTCHA can be a massive pain in donkey, but overall…[Read more]

developer (ChrisB) started the topic Knife database (user-submitted settings) is back in the forum Task Specific Knife Sharpening 6 years, 5 months ago
For those not familiar with it, in the past we’ve provided a database of user-submitted sharpening settings for specific knives. And, a form for users to submit into it, including a picture of the knife, settings used (angles), and additional info.
The database is once again available. Apologies that it disappeared when we moved to our new…[Read more]

developer (ChrisB) replied to the topic Dead Link in the forum Forum Usability Notes and Requests 6 years, 6 months ago
So that ‘Articles’ link takes a bit of explaining. It’s actually the equivalent of a ‘tab’ in our support platform. Meaning, it’s possible for there to be different categories of support items listed under Recent items. But, we don’t use any of the other categories, we just use Articles. So, it looks out of place there, but if we had other types…[Read more]

developer (ChrisB) started the topic A few odd forum issues; we're looking into it in the forum Forum Usability Notes and Requests 6 years, 7 months ago
Just an fyi, that there are some gremlins running around the inner workings of the forum. For example, one person is unable to attach images, and editing that reply just generates a blank page (whereas it works normally for editing other replies). And I’m getting errors when I try to load some admin pages that usually work fine.
So, please let me…[Read more]
