I’m trying to sell my WE120 with base if you want to start cheap and see if you like sharpening your own before dropping $1k. That’s exactly what I did and now upgrading to the gen 3 pro.

I emailed them last week and they said they should be back in stock in two weeks. Never seen a discount code but if you find one let me know!

Wasn’t sure where to post this. Anyway, does anyone on here have experience with the factory 2nd 2016 Gen 3 Pro’s offered on ebay? I emailed WE about them and got a reply back saying they weren’t covered by their warranty and the guide rods weren’t to their specs. I figured I’d order the longer rods from WE so that will solve that issue. I’m…[Read more]

Thanks guys. I was just seeing what you guys suggested. I haven’t even asked him about what steel he would want to use yet. It’s just in the idea stage right now. It will be basically my take on the old timer sharpfinger with a few mods.

I’m thinking about having a buddy of mine who makes knives make me a hunting knife. In ya’lls experience what steel would be good for a small skinning/quartering knife? I have zero knowledge on different steels and just got into sharpening.

Thanks Marc. I’m wishing now I would have just saved a little longer and got the gen 3 pro lol.

I tried pushing it all the way forward but it would still move up and down.
I tried my first real sharpening last night on one of my hunting knives cause I felt I was ready. I thought it came out really good until I inspected the grinds at the end. The left side was shallower if that’s the correct word. I think I figured out why. It appears the b…[Read more]

Another week down and a few new questions….
A friend gave me two knives to work on. A fixed blade double edge boot dagger and a folder that had large serrations on the back half. I got a decent edge on the front of the folder but wanted to know how you guys are sharpening serrations?
The other issue is I couldn’t get the dagger to clamp d…[Read more]

I got my WE120 last week. I’m a total novice at knife sharpening. Never done it before and figured if I wanted to start I’d invest in the best from the get go. I found two old and nasty Old Timer three blade folders in a box and an old fixed blade to practice on. So I’ve basically sharpened six small folders and the fixed blade. I came away…[Read more]

Josh-L replied to the topic How to mount base? in the forum Getting Started 6 years, 11 months ago
Yeah I ended up using those screws without the washers and it appears to be working. I think over time though it may wollar (redneck term I think lol) out those holes maybe. But maybe not. This paperstone stuff seems pretty tough. I PM’d Clay so maybe the screws he sends will fit better.

Thanks for that detail reply!
I carry a Chris Reeve’s Sebenza as my daily carry and have two or three knives that I use for hunting year round. They see the most action though in Nov/Dec where they gut/skin/quarter two or three whitetails. I think I’ve noticed I dull them faster if I use them to cut the rib cage if I don’t have something else t…[Read more]

Total noob question but I can’t figure out how to mount my WE120 to the paperstone base. The base came with two small washers but no screws. There was two screws in the WE120 package but aren’t long enough when used in conjunction with the washers. Am I doing something obviously wrong? Missing the proper screws? Feeling annoyed….
