Tom_G,
I believe tcmeyer, airscapes and me are putting to practice a method based on graphite’s illustrated technique. For me, at first the clamping positions were intuitive. Like tcmeyer, I just looked at the knife’s shape and clamped it how it looked like it would work well. Later it became experienced based. Now I can look at a blade shape and…[Read more]

I see the white outline of a chef’s knife on a black backround. Is there an explanation or question along with the image?

If the image file is on your device, down at the bottom left of the page you can click “Select file” in the greyed out box. That will allow you to select the file from your device. After added the file at the bottom, you can click on insert in post to include the photo in your post.

Tom_G, I tried to figure out your issue and inadvertently added an image…sorry about that. I could not delete the photo attached.
After you click add media, then add it to all the images, and click it so it’s marked with a check mark in the square, on the image. Then lower right click “insert in post”. Hope this helps.

I have this from several years ago. It’s a chart or spread sheet that was put together by an engineer who is a Wicked Edge user. Is this what you’re talking about? It’ll let you set the bevel angle by edge height and ball end distance from the knife’s centerline:

Tim, we try to find a single “best” clamping position at the start, the “Sweet Spot” that allows us to sharpen the whole blade efficiently and effectively. It usually is a slight compromise for the full length of a knife edge to find a position that yields a good balance in sharpening effectiveness and aesthetics along the knife edge. Since the…[Read more]

I just finished building building these four, 12 post, 3 rung, Step Tiered Rack-Its for Wicked Edge Knife Sharpeners. They will use these stone holders next to their various W.E. sharpening setups in their show booths at the various Knife Shows they attend each year.

Which color is your lapping film? The colors of the films specify the grit. This will help you identify which grit you have. The beige or light brown is 6 micron. That’s the film I would start with. That will fit right in with your strop

These new boots fit nice and snuggly allowing for free-rolling guide rod rotation. The new dust boots were a collaborative effort between Ed K and Doug.
I’m using the smallest boots here for the cut-down sockets with Ed’s stainless steel model micro-angle adjusters kit along with his “quick” lock-arm handles with Doug’s bump stops. I am using…[Read more]

The Gen 3 model’s adjuster in your picture 01 is a two piece screw setup. The ball end has the attached knurled thumb wheel which is used to turn the ball end in and out to make the fine angle adjustments. The outer thumb screw (with the hex tool inset) locks the ball end screws with opposing screw positions by jamming the two, screw end to screw…[Read more]
