Has anyone ever taken apart a case knife to clean. It is easy to sharpening, but I would like to take apart and clean. I see the three brass pins but I don’t know if I need to knock them out to get to the internal of the knife or if the chrome ends just pop off if using a little force. Don’t want to ruin the knife, just need a little advice if y…[Read more]

No I have not sharpened it yet. Going to start it tonight. Was getting it set up to see how it was going to go last night going to have to build up the edge so I can get it to clamp properly. As mentioned above I am going to have to move this a few times to blend and make sure I get the bevel consistent down the blade on both sides. Now MarcH i…[Read more]

Ok. I have a cane knife that I am going to sharpening. Doesn’t seem like it’s going to be all that hard to get the edge on. The problem is I have no flat place to clamp it. As you can see in the picture it is two sided, and long I am going to have to do this in stages. How would you guys recommend clamping this to get it to stay in place? I was…[Read more]

Thanks. Very good info. So even though I know I f**ed up on the knife he was happy with how sharp it was. I told hos mother to tell him not to show anyone the knife because I felt embarrassed about how it turned out. Of course she didn’t and he showed hos friends at work and they were surprised how sharp it was. So I watched some of Bob’s v…[Read more]

Thanks guys. That is what I was wondering. So with the axe just as long as I can clamp it with my 1/4 adapter go ahead and use the regular stones to,put the edge on. This is a really nice axe with deer antler handle so I want to make sure it looks really good for him. He is in his 70’s and it was his dad’s axe. So very old.

Just wondering what your thoughts one using the 400 600 grit curved stones on an axe are? So you think they could work well with axes?

Well on my second knife I got a cheap thin knife from my step boy. Also a curved knife. So I decide to re profile this knife. I keep not getting it to the sharpness I’m looking for. So I keep going back to the start. I do this a fee times, few times to many and finally get to a 1000 grit and say this is good enough. Never really got a good b…[Read more]

Ok friends. I am going to get my big collection of filet knives and start to sharpening all of them. My question is what the best way to sharpening these because some are pretty flimsy? I think on light pressure and hold the knife with my other hand while first starting. Also would you just start with 1000 grit if the knife is not in bad sh…[Read more]

Danny replied to the topic Using 50/80 stones in the forum Techniques and Sharpening Strategies 6 years ago
Just going through the threads. Just got my WEPS yesterday and bought the 50/80 stones because i have some older dull thick knives. Had to put in the 1/4 in. attachment right off the bat. Put in the old buck knife and started with the 50 to re_profile the knife. Took almost 30 minutes to get to the apex. When I started this knife might as well b…[Read more]

Well i got ahead of myself earlier and posted on another forum page. I am a crane operator looking to sharpening knives on my down time. I like to hunt and fish so i need sharp knives. My problem is that i am not very good at hand sharpening due to my shaky hands. I have gotten electric sharpeners but they never really work all that well. I been…[Read more]

I just bought a Wicked Edge Pro 3 and waiting for its arrival. Been reading a lot and watching video after video. I bought every accessory and stone, strop, and ceramics they have. I’ve been looking to where i can buy Shapton Stones for the pro. Found an old thread from 2013 but nothing new. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
