if I was to guess the bearing are 5mm unless they make a 5.5mm as the thumb screw seems to be 6mm??

08/29/2020 at 8:19 pm #54906Wow MarcH you have answered a question I had as well.. I was practicing on a cheap knife and it was bending with the slightest pressure so I tried the KO Worksharp and was having difficulties so I took it to my old ChefsChoice XV and in about 5 minutes I had a hair shaving edge which I stropped with the pre “seasoned” knivesplus strop to further refine. What you said in a previous post about WE not the only tool to use really helped me again. Many thanks..
08/29/2020 at 5:51 pm #54902I spoke to Kyle and he sent me some small plastic bearings that I put in the adjustment area and no more problems with coming loose.
08/28/2020 at 5:33 pm #54885How can a knife using the alignment guide not rest on any part of the pins either front or rear.. I thought we were to use the guide with the tip or the knife equaling the referencen point? Boy I have a lot to learn and I appreciate your teaching. By the way are there any knife sharpening services on this forum that only use Wicked Edge as their sharpening system?
08/28/2020 at 3:44 am #54881Thank you as I was wondering why Clay let it fall to a slanted position using the top holes I understand horizontal alignment with top of vise but how do you do vertical since it is slanted and not rectangular?
08/27/2020 at 5:26 pm #54877With the advanced sharpening guide are we to let it dangle as Clay has here or are we to straighten it so it is level with the jaw edge of the Gen 3 ?
08/18/2020 at 10:48 am #54849Marc, it seems you have been with the WE less time than me but you are so advanced unlike myself. My ORIGINAL alignment guide was a strip made out of metal looking nothing like your original that looks like a modified sheet. Thus I do not understand the conversions based on your images. ty

08/14/2020 at 5:11 am #54829marc seems exactly as you are saying.. I am now trying to get as even as possible angles and I have the bevel looking similar and on one side there is an excellent burr but on the other side I seem not to be able to get a burr at all and I do not know why. The marker is being completely removed from the top of the edge and down the side a bit such that it almost equals the other side, but i cannot seem to get a burr on this side. I am now on my 9th attempt with this manix 2. I am still working on this side but I see little progress towards burr formation. One side burr forms quickly but not this troublesomeside.

08/13/2020 at 8:37 pm #54827Marc I am so very frustrated how can the right side be so different than the left.. I am ready to quit trying with this costly knife before it maddens me.
08/13/2020 at 8:15 pm #54824Thank you Marc… what does B.25 equal with the advanced alignment guide?
05/12/2019 at 3:13 pm #50503Here’s the link to the W.E. users sharpening settings submitted for their knives: https://wickededgeusa.com/pages/knife-sharpening-settings-submitted-by-customers Click the search, (magnifying glass far right-top and enter “Manix 2” for those submitted listings. It appears that most of the listing were made with the original standard alignment tool.
Marc..I do not have anything than the advanced guide..how does it compare to original ?
01/10/2018 at 6:39 am #44492Yes thank you, the reason I went back was because scratches were not being removed so I went backwards until I got to the 80 which I thought was necessary to remove the 50 that were from the KME. I thought this was necessary as I was told when starting 18 months ago that I need the next smaller grit to erase the previous scratch and I could not skip the sequence. In any event my sawing motion has not worked other than allowing a poor looking edge that is hair whittling.
