Mike replied to the topic Looking for information about Yu Kurosaki in the forum Knife Specific Discussion 1 year, 2 months ago
I brought back two Yu Kurosaki knives when I was in Japan a while back, a Gyuto and a Santoko. I use the Santoko almost every day, and the Gyuto when needed for something larger. I follow one the members on the forum and Yu Kurosaki knives are a knife that he liked, and after using these knives, I agree with him.

Marc, looks like once, tightened, it’s less of a chance that it can come loose and screw up the sharpening angle. – Mike

Tommie, I can’t agree enough with your assessment, there are a lot of great people on the forum, all willing to help. As another new user, Ed K. Got me started, and MarcH took the time, and I mean a lot of time to fill in the gaps. Sorry Marc, I ask a lot of questions. I’ve still got a lot to learn, but I’ve been given a good foundation…[Read more]

I have a newer WE130, and I can’t speak to all the knives you mention, but the upgraded model takes a Benchmade Osborne 940 okay.

True, the only thing not in the picture is my scope and laptop. I haven’t used it too much yet, but at MarcH’s suggestion, it will now be used at every session.

I’m still a new user, and this is a shout-out to some of the mods from fellow users that are helping me develop good sharpening techniques. They include, but are not limited to Doug Probst’s rod stops, and adapter caps for non magnetic mediums, Ed Kenny’s fine and course adjustment knobs, and MarcH’s Rack-It that organizes my stones so that I…[Read more]

I received my strap in the mail, and it, and the stops are top shelf, and work well, thanks Doug. I now know what angle my strops are set at instead of guessing.

Tom, not my light, picture owner’s light. Ed K., the adjusters are working great.

The attached picture show’s Ed Kenny’s adjusters. It’s not my setup, and I don’t remember where I grabbed the picture, I think that I was looking at something from one of Dale postings, which led to this picture. So, I give credit to whomever’s setup I’m showing. I can say that using Ed’s adjusters, once I’m locked in, nothing has loosened or changed.

I bought a set of Ed Kenny’s adjusters, I found them a picture of them in one of Dales’s postings. The larger knobs and longer adjuster screws make making micro-adjusting an angle with an angle cube a breeze, while saving a lot of time. I sure wish WE would make Ed’s large knob and adjustment setup standard on all of their products.

Doug,
Got the stops in the mail yesterday, tried them out today. Works great, and the screw length is the right length for my clumsy fingers. Thanks again.

Marc, I do use a digital angle cube to make sure my angles are correct. I also bought a jewelers loupe and a usb microscope from recommendations from the forum. I’m learning what to look at with the loupe, but I haven’t messed with the microscope much yet, I know that the microscope will be safer to use. I’ll take both yours and TC’s suggestio…[Read more]

Thanks Marc. Actually, I’m left handed, but like most left handed people, to an extent, I’m comfortable using both hands. I did get a rubber o ring from my big box store, but it slid down. I’ll take another look and see if I can come up with a different idea for a stop. Somewhere I read to drill a hole in a wine bottle cork.

New user here. I have a WE 130 with additional 800/1000 and 1500 grit diamond stones, plus 5/3.5 diamond pastes. I’ve read a ton of postings, and watched another ton of videos. I’m being honest when I say that I’ve made most of the rookie mistakes while trying to learn good techniques. So far, I’ve sharpened a dozen knifes breaking in my diam…[Read more]
