Well said…I share “airscapes” observations and user’s experiences.
The narrow tip pads on the Gen 3 vise jaws allow them to clamp knives of a variety of shapes, tapers and profiles by just a small portion of the steel. This small foot print allows the jaws to tightly and securely grasp tapered shapes without gaps. It also greatly limits the a…[Read more]

Precept, thank you for taking the time to produce the 2nd video. I can tell you from looking at your WE130 that your’s is the most recent version released with all the newest internal part upgrades. The vise jaws have not had a design change since first introduced. I don’t know what I can share with you to be helpful. All I can say is I per…[Read more]

At the end of the video (1:16 secs) while you’re wiggling the LAA in the vise jaws I noticed the lever arm is not all the way locked over, flat and horizontal. My lever arms are positioned flat and horizontal when the vise jaws are locked tight.

Precept, Read my last post, I edited it.
The vise should clamp tight and require some applied force to lock it over. Even with the minimum tensioner setting and empty jaws.
It’s possible you don’t have the full compliment of Belleville washers (8) in your vise. You’d need to disassemble the vise to determine this.

Your vise and LAA appear to be fine...read my two posts above.
The knife is clamped by the two flat pads on the far ends of jaws. I always use a small patch of the real leather chamois cloth, dry. You need to find the balance between the proper knife position and the applied tension setting to clamp a knife securely. It does take some pract…[Read more]

Your low angle adapter, (LAA), appears fine. The LAA has limited usefulness and doesn’t work with every knife. It’s generally used for small, thin bladed knives.
The LAA utilizes the “standard vise” design. By the nature and the physics of this adapter’s design, with one side fixed and stationary and the other side floating and movable, it…[Read more]

The forum was just off-line for a scheduled/announced server maintenance. I was expecting we would get interrupted.
I’m asking for photos that allow me to see the jaw tips and inside faces. Top straight down with vise jaws open and an angled down view like at 45º . Similar photos from the different perspectives would be helpf…[Read more]

The black marks on the ceramic stones is steel residue. It can be removed with the super eraser.
Keep the ceramics dry.
In my opinion the the 0.6µ/1.4µ is the better set. I don’t think you need to use both.

IXALU, welcome to the Wicked Edge forum. My ability to read and understand Spanish very basic, and not too good. But I’ll try.
The wear you are showing with the photos is normal and just what is expected. Just what I experienced, also. The ceramic stones do take a while to break in and require a lot of use till they yield their best r…[Read more]

From what you shared this’ll be your first time to sharpen this knife. That said I prefer to match the factory bevel angle. I like to believe that original edge profile was chosen to optimize the steel’s quality and character.
Use a sharpie marker to help you match the ground bevel’s angle. The Wicked Edge is probably more precise then the or…[Read more]

John, I have a large and diverse knife collection made from a variety of steels many different steel hardness. I have carbon steels, high carbon steels, stainless steels and super hard powdered tool steels. The hardness of my knives range from HRc 56-58 to HRc 67-68.
I have found no direct correlation between hardness and ease of sh…[Read more]

Be aware that edge trailing strokes may result in a very thin yet very sharp knife edge. Sometimes it’s an elongated wire edge. It starts out incredibly sharp but lacks durability and may fail before not too long.
