-M2 at 64/65 HRCfor the hardness numbers to be as high as this, these steels should be almost untempered, this is very close to “as quenched” hardness figures for given types of steels. Will it be useful for anything more than paper cutting, wouldn’t it be too brittle?
08/28/2012 at 1:31 am #5080In the video TaraShevchenko made a point…
Just wanted to clarify that it is not my video, just posted it because this guy jdavis seems to know what he is talking about and you can see quite clearly the stones themselves
08/27/2012 at 10:45 pm #5063Here is the vid from jdavis882 about these stones
08/17/2012 at 8:12 pm #4690Cool!
(I was just kidding about the complaining). ๐
Thanks, I knew you were kidding.
I have received the first shipment of WE standard systems and all of them are sold out to the customers, so I don’t even have the system for demo purposes (it is an obvious rationalization, I just want a new toy), so this was unboxing of the customer’s system.
At the end of the video I show the paperstone base that I ordered from WE and also the base that we made from the piece of countertop material for the customer (we did it for free just to see how it will come out). It is not as heavy as WE paperstone base but I think it will do.08/16/2012 at 3:23 am #4652Well, it was me, and no I am not complaining
07/13/2012 at 12:59 am #4011There is a group of what I would call “freehand sharpening snobs”, to them any system is BS, like “what this system can do what I can not with just my hands”, why spend that kind of money on it. What they forget that they are sharpening not only with their hands, but also with the good quality stones, which are also expensive. And there is also some amount of self interest, one of the most outspoken guys is selling stropping paddles and compounds, the other one is selling Japaneze waterstones
Also some compare the price of EP with WE, but compare US prices as if systems somehow magically teleport to Ukraine. In Ukrainian realities EP is more expensive, the only guy who sells them asks $300 for KIT3 and $325 for KIT4
07/12/2012 at 8:45 pm #4007Hi Josh, thanks for explanation, I can see guys on the forum were really impressed with the rig you constructed, you seem to be very inventive and Clay also said it elswhere that it is amazing how many bright and talanted people are here on this forum and I completely agree
07/12/2012 at 8:46 am #3992Thanks Clay, it explanes a lot, things are not always as they seem to naked eye
07/12/2012 at 8:09 am #3987Hello Clay,
Just curious, why do you feature in the photos and in the recent video FALLKNIVEN F1 which normally has convex grind. That created a lot of puzzlement on Ukrainian knife forums where I posted both photos and vid, most people do not think it is possible to do convex in sharpener systems and while I know that it is possible with WE (I read FAQ) and attracted their attention to that fact still I am curious why F1?
07/12/2012 at 7:55 am #3986Thanks for clarification
07/12/2012 at 2:54 am #3980And what minimum angle will be achievable with this modification? If the angle offset is 2 degrees does it mean that minimum will be 13 instead of 15 per side?
07/12/2012 at 2:42 am #3979There is a topic about WE in Ukrainian knife forum,I posted these pictures to illustrate the capabilities of WE and there was good amount of doubt, some were saying that there is no way such knife can be fastened securely in the clamp. Just curious how you did it
06/18/2012 at 7:39 pm #3580Hi Robbie,

Taras06/18/2012 at 7:34 pm #3579Yeah, it was also in the news here in Ukraine.
06/18/2012 at 6:02 pm #3577Hi Taras,
If you can do something so the Dutch beat the Germans at football next Wednesday, I`ll answer some more questions ๐Hi Mark, I know that this is probably not the best place to do this, but as there is no flame subforum or anything like that in this forum I just put it here
Just a fun video about Ukrainian news reporter trying to film short newsflick about Dutch footbal fans
