Anyone invest in a laser engraver to do custom engraving during a sharpening session? I thought it could be a nice touch and some upsetting.

Got a great Deal on a Tormek T-8 and a Wen unit. The Wen is much louder and runs a bit faster RPM wise. I have these 250 watt portable power units to power cash register and such in case I go to flea markets or knife shows and just for giggles wanted to see how long these units would power the Tormek and Wen. Surprisingly it powered them…[Read more]

I know this is a WE forum but does anyone have experience with a Tormek? Either used it and left it to use WE or maybe use it in conjunction with a WE?

How do I get the bevels to match? Do I have to take all the steel off the one side to make them both 13 degrees?

Ty, I need to know how to proceed with a knife that has a 13 degree bevel on one side and a 16-17 degree on the other. Must I sharpen the 17 degree side down to the 13 degree to match?

I will take a picture or 2. It’s a Japanese steel kitchen knife. It’s very long and very thin.
<p style=”text-align: right;”>On a 1 sided blade fo you still sharpen to a burr? If so how do you remove burr? Light pass with a 1000 grit stone?</p> -

Thank you very much. When you say edge leading you mean your staring you pass from above the blade and come down passed the heal?

So it feels crazy sharp but after scoping it I see all the chips. Side profile is very defined. I progressed up to 1200 grit
Questions to you guys that work magic how would you proceed?
