Welcome!
07/16/2023 at 11:09 pm #58637Hey, Mr. Wilson! Welcome and enjoy!
07/16/2023 at 10:40 pm #58636Welcome Gordon. I went with the Gen 3 and I love it for my application, but …it is pretty tall on my workbench. My workbench is adjustable in height and I have it set at its lowest setting. I find myself switching from sitting on a tall adjustable stool to just standing due to my bad back. And do yourself a favor; take a look at airscapes accessories and Mark H’s racks. They are both great to deal with and their products are superb. Tap into the huge knowledge base that the members have in this forum. Many have A LOT of experience in sharpening knives. If there is anything that you need from me along the way, don’t hesitate to ask. I’m now off to research sharpening a very small penknife in a Tormek small knife jig. Lawdog. (Dave).

03/23/2023 at 9:58 pm #58478Krause, I would, without question, practice on 10-20 cheap knives before jumping in on a better quality knife. This gives you a chance to learn what your doing AND a chance to break in the stones. (I believe it’s extremely important) I’m only a few months in but I received the same advice here from those in the know and it was great advice. You will feel the stones get smoother and the process gets easier. Keep at it and before you know it, you got it! I find it cathartic. Best of luck.
12/10/2022 at 1:58 pm #58296Yesterday, when I returned from the woods, I found a package by my garage. It was my rack from Marc! The package was pristine, inside and out. Marc packed this rack just like you would have expected from him. Even though I’ve never met Marc, you can tell that he knows his business and that he’s very professional at whatever he undertakes. The entire process from inquiring about the rack to receiving the rack was seamless! Fantastic communication and craftsmanship. If you are on the fence about purchasing a rack for your workbench or wall, just know that you are in great hands with Marc. Thanks again Marc and very well done! Dave
12/06/2022 at 11:08 am #58281I find this thread fascinating and pretty much, well above my comprehension. It’s just another example of how much I don’t know. Lol.
12/06/2022 at 9:42 am #58280I agree 000Robert! I think that it came out amazing! I cannot wait to receive the rack and put it to work. Maybe now, I can at least look like I know what I am doing! I have a lot to learn but the longest journey is started with the first step. I thank Marc and Doug for being so professional in the services and advice. They are a pleasure to deal with. Dave

09/02/2022 at 9:18 pm #58167Thank you Marc. What I think I’m looking for is a list of fairly inexpensive knives or knife sets with a decent amount of carbon that would be closer to the quality of knives that I will eventually be sharpening. I have several of Outdoor Edge knives etc but they are just a cheaper stainless. As I understand it, practicing on junk, low carbon content knives will only confuse and frustrate me on my learning journey. I’m all ears at this point. I am a complete novice at this point. (Big ears and small mouth).
