I’n this case, if I were free handing it, I’d end up with a convexed edge, assuming I could get it polished at all.
This one is fighting me…which is weird for such a cheap knife…bah!

I’ve got it.
It’s an interesting tool, and like any of them, it both helps, and adds “fiddling with it time’.
I have noticed that I’m getting better consistency when I use it, but…I have to use it. Some days, its not happening.
So your mileage may vary…but I like mine.

Wow, plasma sharpened diamond.
I did a quick search, no prices but I can’t imagine these are cheap.
It would be interesting to compare edges assuming decent pictures were available.

Another thought.
I’ve had nice slow success with this technique.
Use a soft metal or hard wood for the anvil, and wood for the mallet. So its always being hit and rebounding off something softer than the steel.
And sunlight is invaluable as a light source…

Just got my SWAT set for Fathers day…it was not immediately apparent how they were to be used…but after re-reading the product link, I figured it out. Now I’m digging for tips and tricks. If I come up with anything worth mention, I’ll share.

Just got mine for Fathers Day.
I put them on, half remembering a picture here on the site, and had *NO IDEA* how they were used…
Looked back at the add, and I think I understand now.
It might be worth it to add a picture that looks like instructions showing the stones placed flat against the paddle, and maybe something about how to adjust for thickness.
I know most folks here on the site will re engineer them and figure it out quickly, but I’m dumb…I want pictures in crayon.

But what is a bad result?
I’ve got seriously chewed up strops, so I’ve tried a few things, and pretty much anything that makes the leather soft works great.

The only question I have is how to know if you’ve washed out the stropping compound.
