Done !
07/08/2013 at 10:48 pm #13140Foothills of North Carolina here…visit Loganville often, my best friend lives there and my better half is from Stone Mountain.
Born and raised in Georgia, been here all my life……..currently in Loganville, GA. about 30 mins East of Stone Mountain. B)
Great idea Jed, thanks for starting this thread…interesting to see where folks are from.
08/01/2012 at 7:29 am #4414When I first used the micro fine ceramics (esp. the “brown” stone) , I did notice a different scratch pattern on the edge, however, after lapping them, the scratch patterns appear to be much more refined and consistant although I am not looking at them under 200x. Just my 2 cents but I’m curious to see other results.
08/01/2012 at 12:28 am #4401I received my micro ceramics last week. After using them on a few knives, I was pleased with the results until I lapped them last night and used them on a knife this morning. MUCH better results to say the least.
I started at the 100/200 and progressed up through the 800/100, rotating the ceramics after about 8 to 10 strokes. I used a bit of dish soap on a sponge to wipe off the stones and ceramics to clean out the debris on the each. I couldn’t be more pleased with the mirror edges after lapping the ceramics.
Unrelated to this, I’m having problems with cleaning and loading diamond paste on my strops.
I cleaned them really well, smoothed them and loaded them. When I use them, I am getting residue left on the edges and them seem a little sticky or tacky. Any thoughts on this??07/09/2012 at 9:07 am #3935Makes sense to me Clay. Just noticed the removal of the ceramics from the site and wanted to ask about them. I assume there have no issues with the micro-ceramics so far? I’d like to purchase some but want to see how the other ceramics pan out before purchasing the micros. My understanding is , the micros are not made by the same manufacturer as the 1200/1600 ceramics.
Thanks for the info.Hey Deputy,
They’re in and should be shipping out this week. We’re still undecided about continuing to carry them – the dilemma is that I really love the stones but am not so happy with manufacturer. If they can agree to back their product 100% like we do, then I’d love to keep carrying the stones.Any news on the cermaics being in stock or shipping out? I haven’t heard much if any updates about the ceramics and mine haven’t shown up just yet. I see the ceramics have been taken down from the list of available stones for purchase and replaced with the micro-ceramics.

06/28/2012 at 11:24 pm #3698WELCOME THOMAS !! Glad you found your way here. There are a lot of friendly and knowledgable peeps here. Make yourself at home and take time to read the posts, they’re full of helpfull info.
You’ll enjoy the W.E. and sharpen everything in the kitchen :woohoo: …at least twice!06/23/2012 at 12:43 am #3633Thanks Mark. I can’t take all the credit for choosing the desired angle … Ahem .. Clay .. .but I am really pleased with the results. The microbevel allows someone to resharpen the knife once the edge has become dull without removing too much material from the bevel, makes sense to me and prolongs the life of the edge. Just my opinion. Now I just need to get some Coorstek stones and I’ll be set!
06/14/2012 at 11:55 pm #3526Maybe this will help answer some questions about the gloves… and a few other things

05/25/2012 at 11:51 pm #3329Deputy115 – Was quality control compromised by the expedited demand for the ceramics?
Hi Deputy – Missed this one and your question about and materials  not enough sleep  – no change in Wicked Edge’s assembly and quality checking processes on the stones due to high demand and the manufacturing process is the same as well (no changes in specs etc and TA has been making these stones all along). Demand has been high and increasing for almost a year and a half on these and from my conversations yesterday with Kathy and Kyle, the shipping pace is basically the same as in the past. It has been a cycle of backorder and ship since holidays 2010 when sales volume skyrocketed and kept going up at amazing rates since. Hope that helps some –
Best 🙂

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the response along with the everyone else’s. I agree the process used by the supplier is the same, however, I’m not so sure about the quality of the material. Obviously there are very visible differences in the stones with very different results by users of the current batch compared to the previous batch. (from what I have seen and read about)I have no doubt that WE will take care of the issues at hand and resolve any issues with current users, they have very reliable customer service measures in place and a great team of peeps 🙂 that work hard to insure the integrity of the products.
Thanks Again and I’ll just see wait to see what’s in the box when it arrives!05/25/2012 at 9:43 pm #3325Hey guys ! I’ve been away busy with life and work lately and haven’t had a chance to catch up on things here in the fourm. Having come in on the tail end of this conversation and not having received my ceramics as of today, I’m surprised to read and SEE the dramatic difference of the stones from the first ceramics to this latest batch. Reading about edges being chipped, the white powder and flaking of the material concerns me. I have no doubt the concerns will be addressed and properly handled by Wicked Edge but until then, I’m not sure I want to use these stones on my knives or even attempt a “break-in” procedure.
I guess my question is, did the supplier, who made the first batch, make these stones and if so, have they changed the proccess or materials in making the second batch? Was quality control compromised by the expedited demand for the ceramics?05/10/2012 at 6:11 am #3120Thanks for wringing at least a little smile out of me on this topic and for the feedback. I have to take responsibility for getting the ceramics to said YT poster because I was on the phone w/ him the day his 50/80 stones were going out and was able to drop the ceramics in the same box to save on shipping. I’ll check out Vimeo for posting our vids, it does seem to be much more professional.
^^ A valid point and a great opportuninty missed here ….
05/09/2012 at 9:59 pm #3081HMMMMMMMMMMM… I really haven’t paid much attention to the order dates since I’ve been waiting for my ceramic stones, however, I looked back this morning and my order date is February 16th, still no stones. I received the 800/100 stones almost 3 weeks ago, which were ordered the same date.
04/17/2012 at 10:19 pm #2816Nice knives !! you’re gonna be a busy man with the W.E.
Post pics of the final results after using your W.E. please.04/17/2012 at 10:46 am #2813I’m in the process of finialzing my ticket! Looks like I will be there all day Friday and Saturday, and might be able to squeeze in an hour on Sunday before heading out.
I’ll bring the Shaptons and Choseras – you guys bring the knives! B)
Awesome! Looking forward to it.
