I can’t find the SWAT accessory on the website. How can I order one and how much are they?
02/26/2014 at 2:05 am #17399Sounds good news!
Any news on the DMTs suitable for ceramics yet?
Looks as if Tuffy for one could have done with them a day or two ago.
I think like it or not ceramics will stay some people like them for salads and women like them because of their light weight.
I also know a few riggers use them for dyneema although that is since they firstly won’t buy knives with good steel and most of them cannot sharpen their knives .I’ve got them in stock, just need to do a little testing and then get them up on the site. I’ll try to get after it this coming week.[/quote]
Clay, I know you have some new stuff coming out. When are you planning on putting everything on the website? I am also interested in the DMT stones.
02/26/2014 at 2:01 am #17398I want this set up myself.
02/19/2014 at 3:59 am #17247Thank you all for the help. I am going to go with the 1200/1600 then move on from there.
02/19/2014 at 2:18 am #17240Here is anther vote for ceramics. The LAA is for down the road. I would also think hard about a kanagroo strop. You would not believe what a difference there is with the roo! A roo strop is about 1/2 the price of the macro ceramic. I have them in 5/3.5 and 1/.25 and those that I have sharpened for with them find them amazing!
I will have to consider those. If I go with the ceramics which ones would you start with, also with the balsa and roo strops?
02/19/2014 at 12:02 am #17238Thanks, I think the problem is I am putting a little pressure with all of the steps. I raise a burr on each side with the 100 or 200 only. All of that aside I couldn’t be more pleased with the system. I am just seeing how far I can push the sharpness threshold.
I have been getting everything super sharp and I am very happy with the results. I have cut myself so bad and didn’t even know until I saw the blood. LOL.
02/18/2014 at 9:09 pm #17228Also thanks for the help. You all are super on here.
02/18/2014 at 9:08 pm #17227My wife has me on a limit for my hobbies :S. So I can do only one a month depending on the amount. She says once we buy the house we want I can send more, but I understand why she wants a house. I am thinking the ceramics is the way to go right now.
Does it make that much difference in how sharp you get the knife? I still can’t get the hair splitting sharp, but I can get them sharp enough to cut you and you not know until you see blood dripping.
02/06/2014 at 5:46 am #16893Can you post a pic of your storage box. I like the tubes you are storing the stones in.
02/01/2014 at 8:45 pm #16736I will have to contact him. That is the color I want!
02/01/2014 at 6:18 am #16727Thank you. I am just wanting something a little heavier.
01/29/2014 at 7:18 pm #16687Thanks, I can’t say I haven’t lived. LOL. I guess it’s about time to slow down A little.
01/29/2014 at 5:01 am #16674You have a good point on the cop part.
I hope to buy a house this year. I am 39 and should have made better decisions myself, but hey we only live once and we can’t take it with us when we go, right.
I wish I could.Unfortunately they are super strict because we do a lot of government stuff, so we have to be careful about what we do. I talked to my boss about machining some small parts for a project that I had at the house, you would have thought I was asking to take the whole machine shop to my house to do it.
I have seen some of the work you do and it looks great.
01/29/2014 at 3:26 am #16671That looks sweet. One day I will have a belt grinder setup so I can do things like that, I just have to buy a house first.
Well I wish I was cop! I am a machine maintenance technician. I do everything from electrical to machining parts to keep everything running.
01/29/2014 at 2:50 am #16667What kind of work do you do? Your hands look like mine. LOL. Looks like that is going to be a tough one to sharpen.
