Josh and one or two others here use light boxes to produce really great photos.
Any suggestions on which one to get? Thank you though I’ll definitely have to look into it.

11/04/2015 at 9:00 pm #29347I created an album for some knives I have done, what do you guys think? Anything I can do to improve photos? My lighting conditions are terrible, the camera is great though.

I like an extremely refined edge on my knives and at the moment I had the money to get the pp2. If all you want is a more toothier edge that still is extremely precise and cuts very well, you don’t need the pp2. You could get away with the pro pack 1 or even the basic gen 2 sharpener. The biggest thing you get with the pro pack two in my opinion is not the stones and strops, it is the upgraded arms which have no substitute. Hope this helps

09/10/2015 at 11:22 am #28824Josh, I’m hoping you may have some experience with the following issue and some suggestions/ advise. After seeing this mod a year or so ago I purchased one at Harbor Freight and attached it the my PP2. It worked quite well. BUT, it then sat dormant for a couple of months. When I went to use it again I could not get the suction to stick to a surface. The only surface I have only had it attached to (when it worked) is the granite base that came with the PP2 package. Here’ s what I’ve tried: cleaning the granite, cleaning the suction (rubber) cup, rotating the handle both directions, made sure the suction cup was lined up with the base (fit inside the metal lips on the base). I can not get it to hold to a smooth (or any) surface.. Any ideas anyone?
Now… Credit goes to someone online but it might work who knows!
“Two fold solution!
Clean the tile with alcohol to remove all residue. Clean the suction cup with alcohol but immediately wash with water and dry with hair dryer to evaporate the alcohol. Alcohol mixes with water and will easily evaporate, you don’t want to remove the elasticity of the suction cup. If it has become hard it must be replaced. Place the suction cup in a bow or cup with some water microwave it, use wisdom, not to hot about 30 seconds to make it soft and pliable again. While it’s damp and warm press it to the cleaned area it will draw tight and remain till you want to remove it. Remember once they lose their elasticity or are to small for the object they hold up, they must be replaced with a new or larger one.”Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
09/09/2015 at 4:19 am #28807I have used the strops once.
The stones maybe 15 sharpenings.I got the PP1 in April and the strops in July.
Gotcha… Just curious to see if your case was a use thing or not. But according to many others above it wasn’t for them either. Kind of a batch thing possibly… I’ve got to look at my own now as I am curious!

09/09/2015 at 12:37 am #28801Man, just looked at my stones, the 100/200 and 800/1000 are not flat at all.
My 1/.5 leather strops are nearly round.Just curious as to how long you’ve had the stones and the leather strops?

07/23/2015 at 1:20 am #26053I have definitely given some thought into the 3 micron stones but have the micro ceramics so it’s been alright and have gotten some really really nice edges with that set up and of course stropping.

07/22/2015 at 7:47 am #26045Pretty sure I’ll make my order tonight then.
Just please be aware this level of sharpness on 1000’s has a learning curve and it takes some time for the stones to wear in. Once they do however it’s absolutely fantastic
