I sharpened my Sterling Silver Buck knife and was trying to show the mirror edge I put on it, but decided to show the mirror finish on the Sterling Silver scales instead. They look fantastic, just as long as you don’t handle the knife. They are a finger print magnet. So what’s the deal on the Sterling Silver Buck knife? Apparently they are super rare. Most of them where engraved because of the finger print problem. From doing google searches, this is the only one I found that hasn’t been engraved yet. I got lucky and found it at a pawn shop a couple of years ago with the original box, and bought it on the spot before doing any research on it. The Wicked Edge put a wicked edge on it as usual.

04/04/2019 at 7:00 am #50036I have the Gen 3 Pro and the low angle attachment jaws, and I used it to sharpen my Benchmade 940 just fine. It basically raises the knife higher so the stones don’t hit the jaws. So you can either raise the jaws with a block underneath, or you can use the low angle attachment. I thought about using the Tormek adapter, and I still might get it, but that grabs the handle of the knife, not the blade, so the blade might not sit exactly vertical. One thing on the 940, I took off the thumb stud to keep the stones from grinding on it.

03/30/2019 at 5:00 am #49892That is a pretty cool shot! It was probably harder to put that together, than it was sharpening the knife. At least it would for me.

03/30/2019 at 4:53 am #49889I sharpened up a couple of more pocket knives. My old Kershaw, and my work knife, the Buck. I got the mirror polish on both of them with the same lapping film I used for the first knife. I don’t know if I will get 30 knives with that one lapping strip, I figured maybe 5, if I’m lucky. I’m not into the toothy edge, but thanks for the suggestions. I’m running out of my personal knives to sharpen, so pretty soon, I will have to start sharpening my friends knives, and that is when the fun starts. Most people have no idea how sharp you can get a knife, and when you sharpen one of their old knives, they can’t believe how sharp it is.

I used the 6 micron Diamond Lapping strip, and then the two strops that come in the Pro Pack III.

03/27/2019 at 6:48 am #49845I had the same problem as Airscapes. I have to zero it with the magnet sideways in order to read the angle correctly, but then it only reads one angle correctly. For the other stone, I have to flip the angle cube with the face away from me so I can read the correct angle. It is kind of a pain to do it that way, but I don’t have to do any math. It would be a lot easier if there was an extra button you could press on the angle gauge that would flip the readings so I can just keep the face pointing at me. It took me a while to figure this out. I watched a lot of videos, and none of them mention how to use the angle gauge. Is there a better angle gauge out there that can show the correct angle on both stones without you having to flip the face of the gauge away from you or having to do any math?
