Welcome to the forum Ronnie.
Some blade shapes are challenging and difficult to clamp and sharpen with any Wicked Edge models. Even using the LAA it can be difficult.
I would not attribute your user difficulties to a phoney WE.
Your Case knife is one of those situations where using a Tormek Small Knife Holder may be needed.

Are you looking for an argument, an agreement, yes, yes. All you said is correct. Including the marketing part.
But they’re really good knife sharpeners. Really well engineered and well made. The more expensive models are easier to use the precision these things offer. They do what they say with excellent support.

That’s a WE Blade Stabilizer is in your photo. A Stabil-Rizer is an different aftermarket accessory.

I use a WE130 with the Stabil-Rizer to clamp and sharpen my paring knives at 15°. No LAA. But, as you say, even with the Stabili-Rizer Clamping System there are limitations. Not often.

I experienced many years ago with an older version standard vise. The cool pulled when I removed the screw.
If you submit a ticket with WE support, I’m sure they’ll replace your older vise with the current version.
