TC how often do you sharpen a knife. Im amazed you are still here. Nowhere else, can I find information that only a perfectionist would now, as I can find on this message board. Thanks to contributors like you. Thank you for still being here. Put a little grin on my face seeing you s till here 🙂

06/07/2018 at 4:26 pm #46514Hi TC. Glad to see he owner responded back. I had a little issue, and he bent over backwards taking care of it. In todays day and age, for someone to even respond back is a miracle Franky, with most consumer products, I even have a mercedes product, companies just give you the finger after sales. Wicked Edge.. has given me some of the best support I have got anywhere. And trust me, I have got a lot of bad support from companies ( outside of the knife business) . I still liked my old Avatar I had of the bleeding finger : )

05/24/2017 at 3:35 am #39317Life is not all about $. It’s a great way to get out and enjoy the public also. Watch some of the video’s those who do it for $ make, and you’ll see it’s a great hobby also. I have recommended this to more than a few people to motivate them to get out and enjoy the public more, to keep some of the movement going in their arms as they age, and they can make a few extra $’s also! It’s a great hobby.

04/16/2017 at 7:02 pm #38463Very few products, have I purchased, that after 6 months I still know I made the right decision. Page after page, review after review, I can’t find anyone who has said the Wicked Edge is second to anything. Some like other products maybe for a specific thing, but it seems as a consensus , nothing makes a knife sharper than the wicked edge. No one has even posted anything that makes me second guess my decision.

04/07/2017 at 3:36 pm #38235Assuming the source water was tap or spring water, distilled water is pure enough for nearly all lab applications. It is used for:
- solvent to prepare solution
- analytical blank
- calibration standard
- cleaning glassware
- equipment sterilization
- making high purity water
The purity of deionized water depends on the source water. Deionized water is used when a soft solvent is needed. It is used for:
- cooling applications where it’s important to avoid depositing minerals
- microbiology autoclaves
- many chemistry experiments involving ionic compounds
- washing glassware, especially the final rinse
- solvent preparation
- analytical blanks
- calibration standards
- in batteries
As you can see, in some situations either distilled or deionized water is fine to use. Because it is corrosive, deionized water is not used in situations involving long term contact with metals.

SUBSTITUTING DISTILLED AND DEIONIZED WATER

You don’t generally want to substitute one type of water for the other, but if you have deionized water made from distilled water that has been sitting out exposed to air, it becomes ordinary distilled water. It’s fine to use this type of leftover deionized water in place of distilled water. Unless you’re certain it won’t affect the outcome, do not substitute one type of water for another for any application that specifies which type to use.My 2 cents, because distilled water has nothing in it, it does some cleaning effect. You would be surprised at just how much garbage is in your water. I drink and cook with distilled water, and it dramatically changes the taste of some foods. If you would see the amount of dirt in about 4 gallons of water, you would be surprised

04/03/2017 at 11:55 am #38118I just wondered how they do it in “Japan”. I purchased some of these $350 a piece japankitchenknives.com knives, and they are sharp in my opinion. They said if I send then in, for $30 every few months they send a box over to Japan to sharpen. This is what sent me down this crazy path of sharpening, because Im almost certain, if i took these knives locally to get sharpened, they would destroy them. As with many things nowadays, if you want it done right, you have to do it yourself. Any bosses here agree?

04/01/2017 at 3:44 am #38070No offense bud, I’ve been known to waste a few thousand on some dumb stuff, but……. what do you get for 10K in a knife? Is this the OJ commiserative series or what?

03/31/2017 at 11:34 pm #38067Awesome advice TC, and thanks for posting! I’m curious as to why you only use the 9 micron after the 1K when going for a higher sharpness level? Does the 6/3 combo not completely polish out the scratches from the 1K? I understand going all the way down to 0.1, but was just wondering why you only use the 9 micron when doing a full progression.
I do this because while the 6 micron film does really well in erasing the scratches from the 1000-grit stones, it’s a pretty wide spread from the 1000’s and would take longer to repair the 1000-

edge damage than the 9 micron. Please understand that I haven’t done an extensive series of experiments to prove this; it just makes sense to me.
Makes sense to me, too. I have the 1500/glass platen, so I think the jump from 1500 to 6 micron *may* be doable there. I’ll do some experimenting and get back to you guys! [/quote]
What would happen if you alternated every other stroke? up down then out, then up down then in?

Thank you very much for all the videos you have done. And a pleasure to meet you.
