Thanks, MarkH. It is a good little knife. I’ve used it around the shop a good bit.
Yes, I think it is Gorilla tape, not duck tape.

Here is my latest knife. Among its problems, it is not well proportioned.
I took a beginners class at New England School of Metal Work several years ago. I haven’t devoted much time making knives. I hope to make more in the future.
Maybe with time I will improve. Even though they have imperfections it is great fun forging and grinding t…[Read more]

Shelley, I guess you can call it a sheath. It’s two pieces of an old leather belt duck taped together!
MarcH, it’s a shadow!

I have taken a bladesmith course at New England School of Metalwork. They have great classes in blacksmithing and bladesmithing. I have only forged a few knives since.
I recently forged a knife using 1084 steel. It is one of the easiest to heat treat. I sharpened it with the WE starting with the 50 grit stone (to produce an edge) and worked up to…[Read more]

Thanks guys. I am not all OCD about sharpening like some of you guys! :-). I only sharpen a few knives every few months. So the old style vises work for me.

I have posted two ways to work with long flexible blades. If some of you have a second older WE vise you can mount it as a second clamp for your blade.
Here are links to the old posts.

There was no error message. I inserted them into the post and they didn’t display. If you look at the Stacking photos on iPhone thread you will notice at the bottom there is a .png and .jpg version of the stack 04 photo. Only one displayed.

I think the problem is that the forum doesn’t recognize .PNG format. I had to convert the photos to .jpg.
