I’m thinking of changing my screws to brass so they don’t start marring up the SS bar and micro fine adjuster threads.
Looking at the micro adjust, mine has the standard sharpened point, that would dig directly into the threads of the ball joint. I’m not going to use them because I think it will cause problems down the road. Also, one side is tapped pretty tight where you can thread the ball joint in about 3 turns, and then you have to use a wrench to get it to tighten the rest of the way. The other side is loose such that you can thread it all the way by hand. On the loose side, I added teflon tape as a non-permanent locking agent (like nylock or loctite) so that it will not change adjustment without a wrench. Another temp solution to protect the threads of ball joint from the micro adjust lock screw would be a plastic ball of nylon or delrin between the two threaded surfaces, since it should take mere hand tightening to lock the micro adjust.
I’m gonna stop at the hardware store on the way home to try and find some all plastic/nylon/delrin screws, hex heads, or thumbscrews; should have sufficient tension to keep the micro adjust screw from spinning.
