Expedia, I simply Googled “custom Japanese knife handles” and found the Esty location. As for handle removal it’s relatively simple but requires a bit of less than tender force!! LOL I placed the blade in a vise with padding for the blade and used a section of 2X4 longer than the blade. See the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TLOpxONsh0
Cheers

02/17/2020 at 9:42 am #53545Here is a link to the handle. I didn’t make the handle myself but instead ordered it. Esty has a great selection of pre-made and materials. My choice might not be for some but thought it really enhances the blade. I do agree that the pictures of the blade do show the Damascus as being dark but as you mentioned mine is the same as yours (shiny). The knife does appear to be offered through a few different outlets (mine from Hocho).

02/15/2020 at 8:48 am #53536I just recently acquired the Yu Kurosaki in 240 mm VG10 Damascus (second from the left in Marc’s picture). The Damascus pattern is “Fujin” said to be the god that controls the wind. Truly exquisite. I’ve added a custom handle to mine since I felt the original just didn’t do the blade justice. Amazingly sharp.

02/07/2018 at 8:28 am #45067The Loveless folks use CPM154 Stainless according to their web site. Once again the maker’s recommendation is probably best due to familiarity. Not too soon to ask to see the finished product once created, is it?

06/23/2016 at 10:28 am #34432I’m not sure if what you are looking for is already part of the Gen 3. If you look at an enlarged picture of the Gen 3 there is a clear plastic (Lexan?) sheet with a soft strip on top that the arms are resting on. I have a Gen 3 and this piece is included on mine. Don’t remember what thread it was but a while back there was a picture of this piece that someone had laser etched the Wicked Edge Logo on.

05/13/2016 at 10:37 am #33988I’m up for ordering some but am curious, what is the difference in size between the regular and large sizes?
01/02/2016 at 12:58 pm #30230I agree that new and interesting topics would probably encourage return to the forum. I’m like Bill and new to this, so of course my interest is very keen (no pun intended). I have posted a couple times, one suggestion, one question. I have a feeling that some folks after hitting the forum for technique and had basic questions answered have sharpened all their knives to a “wicked edge”, have no more to sharpen and put the sharpener in a closet until they need to sharpen again. Without a doubt the Wicked Edge is amazing and gives beyond belief sharpness. One thing I see asked about quite often is the Knife database that was part of the old forum and no longer available on this version. (Note: I came into this under the new forum). This might be a drawing card for the forum. Is it possible that someone has downloaded and saved it?
Having said all that I want to thank the folks that post regularly, one in particular, “Bill”. His “newbie” questions have answered many of my own.
12/18/2015 at 12:55 pm #29910Thanks Bill. As a fellow retired 24 years Air Force (retired in 94) and probably about the same age group I appreciate your candor and introspect. Do you recall which ones you tried that didn’t work? sure would help the elimination process. Thanks again for the reply.

12/16/2015 at 12:17 pm #29860After trying to find the model car axle boots to protect the ball joints and having every source reply “out of stock”, I may have found something that will work as well. They’re called “red caps” and are used to cover the tip of a caulking tube. I’ll let you guess what an elf could use them for!!! Cut a small hole in the tip and with a bit of work they can be unrolled and slid down the rod and stretched over the ball joint.
