Is it a wet-belt system? If not, it will be very easy to ruin the heat treat of your blade bevels.

Well, you chose the wrong company to speak out against. I can’t believe that WE have managed to keep their prices down when just about everything else has gone up. You should be congratulating them.

Sometimes I misspell words on purpose to see if someone will jump on it like a dog on a bone. But in that case I saw it but didn’t think that it was worth the time to correct it.

It all depends upon your priorities. I hope that you don’t plan on charging me for the spelling lesson… LOL!

I see nothing wrong with the Wicked Edge prices. I own a fountain pen that costed more than the WE60 base model. WE sharpener systems are original and made in the USA. They are not building from the research & development of other companies – they do their own research & development. And as Marc pointed out, they have come down on a lot of their…[Read more]

Yeah, the jaws on mine are ground down some too. The Tormek is probably the quickest and easiest way to handle tiny blades.

I don’t have a WE120, but I would bet that you would’ve had better results using a Low Angle Adapter rather than the riser block. The quickest and easiest way for me to sharpen tiny blades is to use a Tormek SVM-00 small knife jig. It’s quick and easy.

Do you mean a riser block that goes underneath the vise, or a Low Angle Adapter? I use my WE60 for really tiny blades. Going by the photos it looks like we might have the same problems with the WE40. I really don’t know why WE believes that the base of the vise needs to be so broad. If they would bring the base in 1 1/2 inches or so it would fix…[Read more]

It would help if you were more specific. Which system do you have? It would also help if you could provide some pictures.

In lieu of more info or photos it sounds like the blade is not clamped in the ‘sweet spot’. You probably need to move your blade back toward you in the vise. Try moving it back a little bit at a time and see if that works.

Wow! That’s the first time that I have ever seen or heard of knives like that. But, where there’s a will, there’s a way. I’m sure that some of the more experienced guys will offer some ideas soon.

I just use water and dishwashing liquid with a scrub brush. I haven’t seen any problems with the stones. When I’m reprofiling, I soap up a sponge with dishwashing liquid and dab the stones on it occasionally.
