    Does anyone have any tips on mounting the blade to get the most even bevel considering the thick tip? Tip angled down and close to the vise?

    Yes, move the tip closer to the clamp and tilt it down just a little bit. Use the marker to observe how the stones are tracking and make small adjustments as necessary. You might try starting with the tip around A.5.
