aerospace machinist here, what aspect of it do you need to be cheaper? was it mostly the micro adjust increasing cost? the overall structure is quite simple, i don’t see where there would be tons of bucks involved unless quantities were low.

as an aside, i’ll buy a WE66 right now if i could just.. find one. haha.

Sunday September 1st, 2025: More discussion on the LAA and how it compares to the original W.E. standard vise. The Stabil-Rizer is used.

If you have an angle finder, use it.  The calibrations on the WE only apply to edges that are about 5/8″ above the top edge of the vise.  If you are sharpening a wide knife (e.g. chef’s knife), the angle could be quite different.
