I just sharpen the flat side and don’t worry about the serrated side unless there is damage to it.

That’s recent….I see the WE website updates frequently.
I never did see the purpose for the G4P sans micro-adjusters.
So Alan, now the only reason is if you want the new Gen 4 Pro? You know there are upgrade micro-angle adjusters for your old girl, too. I started with that OG model version in 2017.
They’re available here in the Expert…[Read more]

Just noticed..
The WE Gen 4 Pro is now ONLY available WITH micro adjust.
The only decision to make now is with or without the storage shelf.
This raises the minimum price to $1299.00.
I’m still using my ($699) 2017 WE GEN Pro 3 (only available at the time with micro adjust) and still love it.
It just goes to show that WE products are built…[Read more]

Tom, The answer to your challenge is my aftermarket Uni-Handles. We offer the add-on round rod cleat-pair that allow our Uni-Handle 1×6 universal stone holder handles for all Wicked Edge setups to now utilize these new diamond round rods in addition to all 1×6 plated stone mediums.
I just got done taking this catalog/website photo.

I have a Spyderco Rescue 79MM serrated blade that needs sharpening.
I think my sharpener is WE120. Does “WE” have the stones and anything else
needed to sharpen this blade. I have never sharpen this type of blade if it can be done.
Thanks for any information you can give.

I don’t recall seeing diamond stropping emulsion that fine, available from WE. I’m sure that WE will restock the Kangaroo Strops.
Kangaroo Strops for Wicked Edge are available from JendeIndustries.com and 1 x 6 style also. Jende has a large selection of stropping compounds also.
You can also go the 1″x6″ stone format with Uni-Handles for WE.…[Read more]

I came to order some of the kangaroo strops and the .25 and .1 emulsion compounds only to find it says out of stock. Google says other places that carry gunny juice compounds are also all out of stock. Have the kangaroo and emulsion products been discontinued? Are they expected back in stock some time in the future? I signed up for the “email me w…[Read more]

Marc’s comments about raising a burr with each grit progression made all the difference for me. That and WE strops took me to shaving sharp edges.

I break-in stones on chisels or blades that need to be reprofiled. My hope is to get rid of diamond clusters when they won’t do much damage to the finished edge. I would notice chips in the edge of blades with bad steel myself. Good steel will also leave a decent burr, but the burr on bad steel will kinda crumble off of the edge. I bought some…[Read more]

You can usually feel the clusters as you move the stones thru their length. I could always pinpoint the general location of the clusters and then look for them with the USB microscope. When trying to knock the clusters off. I could always tell when I suddenly would notice that the “grit” seemed smooth throughout the length of the stroke.

Being they are inexpensive knives they may have inclusion within the steel… if you have a jewelers loop take a look at the chips.. some of us use an inexpensive USB microscope to monitor the edge as we sharpen and that makes seeing the damage rather easy.
Any piece of standard glass will work, including that of a dollar store picture frame.
