The WE66 Obsidian is a GREAT option. IMO, it’s the best bang-for-your-buck$$ model that Wicked Offers!

Welcome to the Wicked Edge family, RCH! I’m glad to hear that you are enjoying your WE66 Obsidian. I remember when I got my first Wicked Edge sharpening system, I was looking for knives, scissors, and everything that I could find to sharpen up. I recommend getting a set of 50/80 stones for when you have to do some reprofiling, especially for…[Read more]

Well, I am one day into my WE Obsidian. Had to work a while this am, but was able to review all the videos on the WE66. This afternoon, I figured the edge angles and touched up one of my Benchmade EDCs after putting a real edge on some of my old
Kershaw Leeks that I use fishing. All of those will now cut braided line without thinking about it.…[Read more] -

Welcome to the WE Forum, New to nice knives: All the WE 60 Series kits are sold and shipped with only 200/600 unless another stone or edge kit has been specifically purchased as an add-on.
With any WE model, all of them….for the new-to-WE user experience, expect to see marked improvement to any previous knife sharpening you have done….once…[Read more]

Those stones are fine. I prefer to take kitchen knives to at least 1000 grit. You will definitely want more stones if you need to do any reprofiling.

Those stones should be fine but, it’s an addiction and you’ll probably want more later on. I take it to 3000 stones and then polishing tapes. I’m hooked.

Just received my WE 66. I thought I had purchased a set of 200/600 and 800/1000, but despite what was advertised I only received the 200/600 stones! Are these adequate for quality EDC and kitchen knives, or should I wait for the finer stones? I already have pretty good edges from my Spyderco Sharpmaker.

Thanks again! Just got approved for the FB group, so I will look through there as well. I’m guessing that the single-sided scrubbing might give you less of a polished edge, but can definitely help with overall sharpness (and help you even out those uneven spots). Going to set up my Paramilitary 2 today and see what new things I can learn!

I do every grit the same way. The same routine, start to finish, consistently. That includes beginning at the beginning, with single sided scrubbing strokes…Even when working up to the very fine grits I still re-establish the flatness of each bevel, again and again with each next grit using scrubbing strokes…After verifying and re-adjusting…[Read more]

Finally had time to go through the videos, thank you so much for taking the time to explain things for me!
– You mentioned scrubbing in the first video, I like to do this in the beginning with the low grits to set the apex. Do you do that for grits higher than 50/80/100? This time around, I used a sharpie for each stone all the way up to 2200 to…[Read more]

This was what I really needed to hear after all the time I put in today, haha! I’m very happy with how sharp the knife is, and that I took the time to make sure the tip/choil end of the knife were finished before moving onto the next stone. I tend to get antsy and just assume it will work itself out later on down the line, but I notice less of a…[Read more]

That’s the dilemma. Where to go back to improve the outcomes? Re-doing the stropping regimen as you look to adjust your stropping setback angle, is a logical plan of action. I would certainly start there.
The problem is, if your outcomes are not improved you don’t know if you didn’t do enough or was it just wrong. There’s no telling the depth of…[Read more]

Thank you very much, Marc! Over the years you’re taught me to be very mindful of my strokes, but as with all things, I’m just hoping to take it to the next level.
I was still very happy with how the edge turned out, but wasn’t sure what grit to go back to/if I need to adjust the stropping angle if I want to “buff” it better.
Going to watch the…[Read more]

Hello, sorry if repost!
Been spending a lot of time with my WE120 recently, taking extra time to check out my edge between each grit to try and hone my skills a bit. I’m able to get a nice mirror polish on the bottom of the bevel that is nice and reflective, but can’t seem to get that finish to make its way up the entire bevel. Not sure if that’s…[Read more]
