And a question for the other moderators/webmasters/developers. Curtis learned me a few days ago how I could pin and unpin a message. (Maybe this functionality already existed for a long time, but I didn’t know it. And as far as I know it had also never been used on the forum.) Is there a way to edit the “thanks” for a post?
The ability to “pin” a post has always been there… it just doesn’t work in the “Recents” section… it always defaults to what’s new. You could see them if you went to the individual categories. With the Knowledge Base… I’m not sure they’re really necessary now anyway.
You can “Remove Thanks” if you have a change of heart?!?…. you’ll see the option appear in the same area the Thanks Button was… once the Thanks posts.
07/05/2017 at 5:15 am #3986107/02/2017 at 9:23 am #39835I got hit with the same thing.
I’m trying imgbb.com … it’s bare bones, but free, and allows me to insert/link pics into forums. Only used a couple of days… but it’s working so far.
No more Photobucket for me… I think they won’t last long with their new crazy pricing.
07/02/2017 at 6:54 am #39833Cool. My suggestion was primarily a way to “clean up the edge”… as an alternative to the leather strop. Either route, (the lapping film or 800/1000 stone) will give you a “more refined” edge. Just a bit more info… your edge should be pretty refined off the 600g stone. Finish with light alternating edge leading strokes. Then use the lapping film edge trailing just to clean up the edge and remove any residual burr or wire edge. Don’t expect it to give you a “mirror polish” coming off the 600g stone. ½ dozen to a dozen strokes per side with the film (give or take), should be all that’s needed at this stage.
07/01/2017 at 5:19 pm #39825All, I will be a first time user of the Wicked Edge system. I am about to pre-order the Wicked Edge Go and would like some advice on what accessories at a bare minimum I should get with my initial order. I just want to try out the system and get my feet wet. If I like it and it fits my needs, I may go all in and get the big kit. Should I order a strop set and paste and let the included 200-600 abrasives be my baseline for the Go? Thanks, Andy
My first thought… if you’re just wanting to “try out the system”… nothing. You can get a great edge off a 600g stone (once it breaks in a bit, it’ll be even better).
If you want to add one thing to clean up the edge… I would consider the “stone blanks with aluminum platens”… and then add a sheet of the 9m Aluminum Oxide lapping paper. (Unless you’re sharpening some high “wear resistant” steel, then maybe make it a sheet of diamond). The general trend has been toward the lapping papers over the strops… and IMO anyway, might work better in a portable kit. Another advantage,,, you don’t have to make any adjustments, that you might have to with leather.

06/19/2017 at 5:33 am #39725…I wanted to tackle the fitting issues of a liner-lock folder.
Very impressive!!! Few pro knifemakers will even take on this challenge.
Great job… and post!

06/16/2017 at 6:54 am #39701My .02…. I think a KB should have more of a tie-in with the W.E. staff. For example, one of the platforms you listed (they all may do it, but one highlighted it)… was the ability to send a Customer Service response to the KB, where it could be formatted and added. I’m sure there’s a wealth of information from them that never make it to the forum… (and that they probably have to repeat over and over again).
I’ve also mentioned before that some of the information that could be obtained, for example, at the knife shows W.E. does every year, goes untapped. Maybe, with the creation of a KB… an effort could be made to document some of this? (That video I recently posted for example, of Kyle sharpening “a challenge” knife, is a good example). And if you look at some of the posts Kyle has made here in the forum (just using him as an example), a lot have info that he’s learned just from the volume of knives he’s sharpened,… and it’s a source that could probably be put to better use. A KB might be the ideal platform to get this included.
Might be something you’re already thinking of… but if not, I think it’s an important resource that should be added.

06/15/2017 at 9:07 am #39690That now works… but I noticed this morning that the search button is gone? There’s one at the top of the page, but it searches the store.
Don’t know if it’s related to the login fix… I just happened to need to do a search and it wasn’t there… may have been gone for a while.
06/13/2017 at 4:56 pm #3965906/06/2017 at 6:17 am #39536It shouldn’t come loose, which I know doesn’t help… but it makes me wonder if there’s an underlying problem?
Might consider calling W.E. directly… or wait and give Clay a chance to see this… he might know a reason for it.

06/03/2017 at 10:28 am #39485If the 1500 is a diamond stone… I would use that before any of the ceramic stones.
Diamond stones tend to cut a bit deeper and more defined vs. ceramics. The ceramics also burnish a bit. So, even though the diamonds may be “finer”… they’ll usually work better before the ceramic stones.
All that being said… play around a bit and see what works best… especially at the finer levels, (and if the 6m is a lapping film, you may get a different result vs. a diamond stone). It’s pretty easy to switch back and forth… and it does little to the knife.

05/31/2017 at 3:26 pm #39444I’m sure you know W.E. will be at Blade Show… I’m not sure you can get any better advice than “in person”!
If you haven’t seen it… their new store page has a comparison feature that may help…
