<p style=”text-align: left;”>Does anyone recommend replacing the 800/1000 diamond stones with the chosera 800/1000?</p>

They are both abrasive stones of similar grit by name but they behave differently and have different scratch patterns and characteristics. One is not a direct substitute for the other.  Check out the grit comparison chart in the knowledge base.

Also the whetstones take a learning curve of their own till you figure out just how to use them in conjunction with other types of abrasive mediums.

Simply on the basis of numbers:

Chosera 800/1000 are 14 micron and 11.5 micron respectively while the

    WE 800/1000 are 12 and 7 micron.

Its like calling a critter by it’s common name vs it’s scientific name. There can be two of them with the same common name but they’re an entirely different genus and species using scientific classification.

The Chosera 1000 (11.7 mics) and 2000 (6.7 mics) are closer in terms of actual grit size relative to the WE 800/1000.
