We’re officially unveiling this sharpener at Blade this year, but I thought it would be good to show it here on the forum first. This unit has been under development for a while now (a couple of years) and has some really cool features like one step knife mounting and one step angle setting. It also features floating jaws so that the knife is always centered and FFG blades are a non-issue since the jaws both move to conform to the grind geometry. Here are some sneak peek images:
It is so much fun to use - simply step up to the machine and set the knife in the slot, pull the lever to clamp it, move the degree bar to set both sides simultaneously and start sharpening. The micro-adjustments are still available and the regular Wicked Edge stones fit.
Missing from the images are the degree markings along the curved front plate, our logo and an actual knife in there. The image is of a prototype, so there may be some minor design changes though the technology is well set.
I will look forward to more details. Why do I think that the price of this device will run into the thousands??? Maybe why it is called an “industrial” Sharpener.
Interesting, My first thought is the height, work from a low table or stand up?
Will have to see it in use. Like the idea of the knife being centered. If it adjust both
sides at the same time, will you be able to customize the stone adjustment if the need arises?
Great to see WE is developing and trying to improve.
I’m not sure what the pricing will be yet. At first it will be higher since we’ll be completely machining each unit. If the demand grows, I’ll get some tools made and we can cast, extrude some of the pieces to bring down the price. Starting by machining it has the added benefit of allowing us to easily make changes as needed while we’re collecting feedback.

Nice observation - at the moment it’s set up to use standing on a standard height counter or can be used sitting on a low table. The unit is just shy of 18" high from the bottom of the base to the top of the clamp.
