I tried an angle of 18 per side all the way to 3.5 strops then went back to 20 and gave a micro bevel of 10 strokes with my 1600 ceramics. Then back to 18. For 5 strokes with cow leather at 5 um. For my whitetail it was like sliding through butter very slick. I was using a blackjack with d2 tool steel.

I think that’s an awesome idea. With the wicked edge it’s possible to do so many different edges for specific tasks it would be very helpful Plus there is such a wealth of knowledge in this community it would become a very thorough database

Well clay you were on the money. This did an awesome job on my 8 point buck and splitting the breast bone really did not dull the edge nearly as much as I expected. Also I sharpened my skinner at 18 per side and took it to a highly polished edge with no micro teeth and this made my skinning task a breeze very slick. I will post a picture of my European mount when I get it back.

Hello all
My names Wesley Adkins, 33 years old born and raised here in the mountains of wild and wonderful West Virginia. I have been hunting and fishing my whole life and am an avid outdoorsman. I work in federal Law Enforcement and plan to retire on the outer banks of NC and spend a hard life sport fishing in about 20 years lol. As a boy my grandfather was a knife collector ESP. Case knives which I inherited. My personal collection has also grown over the years and have several convex blades and thats where the wicked edge first caught my eye. As I’ve grown up hunting a sharp edge has been a required tool of the trade and spending hours sharpening and honing to get there was the norm. I am happy to have this community to help me with my journey down the road that is the WEPS. Being new to this I hope to learn from you all and contribute my experience in the future.

Thank you clay I will try that out for sure. Hopefully I have a story to tell but there are some nice white tails showing up and a 350 pound black bear visiting near my stand. Kudos on a wonderful product and for creating this community.

Diamonds to 1000 grit. The 1200 1600 ceramics. Leather strops in 14-10 and 5-3.5. Planning on adding those kangaroo leathers and some spray when they are back in stock.

The two knives I am sharpening for the field are a buck 119 and a blackjack which has a convex edge that has never been sharpened only stropped. One of the reasons I bought the wicked edge and am still reading up on how to do the blackjack. So the buck will be my primary for now also it is 420c.
