Dave,
i would suggest the pro pack 2. You can play around with both arms and the ceramics and stops really help to smooth out the diamonds. Honestly, haven’t used the upgraded arms (or any of the pro pack 2) yet. I love the feel of the originals. For me the tolerances are spot on. I could’ve bought the $300 system and added stones. Oldawan has some good yt videos explaining the different packages if you’re a visual person.

i was able to break it free using a hex from a keybar type set. I still decided to use the weps in its original form. (Standard arms, no riser, markers) I figured as I’m breaking the stones in I might as save the good stuff! Some hiccups here and there but overall very pleased!

01/30/2016 at 9:16 pm #30851Nevermind. I used a different wrench and popped her good. False alarm!
01/30/2016 at 8:19 pm #30849Did you ever fix this? I’m having a similar issue. I can’t move the micro adjust screw.
01/27/2016 at 11:19 am #30784Are you in management? (Joke) I too am not an expert, and betting the farm that the wicked edge will be the great equalizer. My quest for perfection gets me to over think things and in the end do more harm than good, while free handing or even sharpmaker™-ing knife edges. i look forward to that day when I am afraid of my knives!

01/27/2016 at 10:28 am #30781Oldewan, oldawan? Tools for sharp has videos on YouTube describing the differences. I also struggled with this and about an hour ago bought the pro pack 2. My thought was because I never used a wicked edge product before somethings would not matter the same as if I wanted to upgrade(i.e. Micro adjust arms) I’m not rich and actually very stingy with my money. However, after much debate with my butler, gardener, maid, chauffeur, dog walker, and celebrity chef I was able to make a decision. Good luck and know whatever you decide it will be a good choice.

01/27/2016 at 10:21 am #30780So I finally did it. Pulled the trigger on a pro pack 2. Thank you to everyone who left suggestions! I have to say… This forum was a huge reason as to why I bought the system. It’s good to know that I can find answers to questions I have or may have in the future. I hope to be able to contribute as well when I become proficient.

01/18/2016 at 10:09 pm #30676I read that was an issue for the pass around but clay mentioned that the production model would for up to .16? (A strider Smf would fit) my thickest blades are xm-18, sng, and not like a busse or equivalent. Were you having issues with sng size blades or busse sizes? The floating clamp and easy dial angle setting are what drew me to the gen 3 pro. It’s also built extremely well.
