I am taking the advice of many and stocking up on old kitchen knives while I wait for my Wicked Edge GO to arrive. The local thrift store has these knives priced at .35 each. There are some that could make a great knife but none that I plan on keeping.

07/16/2017 at 1:16 pm #40169I pre-ordered the GO as my first experience with the Wicked Edge System. Considering the pre-order price is barely 2x more than a set of stones, it is a remarkable value. I am not expecting mirrored edges or hanging hair results but I am hopeful it will produce consistently sharper edges than I can get with my limited skills with a stone and a steel.
I need to pump the brakes every time I come here and read these advice posts. I want to order the Pro Pack 3 but saving over $1000 before trying the GO seems like the responsible way to go at this time.
I can’t wait until our GOs ship out and we start getting a true report card on the ability of the GO.

07/06/2017 at 4:13 am #39887Thanks for all the replies. I can tell that my ownership and use of the WE will have plenty of support from this group on this forum. It may be user friendly and I’m hoping I can have success with the WE but if I run into trouble, I know where to turn for help.
After I hone my skills on about a dozen thrift store $1.00 knives, I will move to my kitchen knives and then my friend’s knives (Dalstrong Shogun kitchen and steak knives).
Thanks,
Andy

07/02/2017 at 3:10 pm #39842I am one of those people that goes all in once I get a grasp of whatever it is I’m getting into. I went snow skiing for the first time and was hooked so I bought boots, skis and all the accessories.
I want to experience one before I buy big. I’m prepared to buy a Pro-Pack III kit once I learn the basics.

07/02/2017 at 1:33 pm #39840I’m in! The Wicked Edge Go price of $150 attracted me and I pre-ordered one this morning. I suspect I’ll be hooked and upgrade after I hone my skills on the Go. It may prove to be all I need and I may accessorize it but I am prepared to upgrade models and invest more.
Thanks Wicked Edge!

07/02/2017 at 1:04 pm #39839What about Amazon Prime Photos or Google Drive?
07/02/2017 at 6:19 am #39832Thanks to all who chimed in. I am confident that “getting my feet wet” is just the beginning with the WE. I am confident that the suggestions given will help produce a better edge than stopping at 600 grit.
I went the cheap route and got the aluminum lapping kit. I will return with an update and review of the Go when it arrives and I try out the included stones along with the optional lapping films.
Thanks,
Andy
07/01/2017 at 10:11 pm #39827Which of the two suggestions will produce a sharper knife? Will only getting to 600 grit and then lapping film get to to a great edge or will I be better to go to 800 / 1000 abrasives?
Both are good suggestions and I suspect I’m going to like the system and invest into a bigger kit. I could try the cheaper route with the lapping strips because if I upgrade to the bigger kit, it will have the 800 /1000 abrasives included.
Thanks for the responses, they are much appreciated due to my lack of WEPS.
