Hi Jack, this is what worked for me so far;
1000, 1.4, 1200, 1600 and finally .6 in that order.
05/28/2013 at 6:00 am #11806One thing I found helpful is always rest the blade spine all the way into the depth key in a way that it is completely seatting in the two depth key studs and by doing this the vertical position hardly change. Once I found the knife is completely flush into it then I tighten it up while holding it down. 🙂

I just found what I asked about just measure only one side at a time. Just by leaning the blade to either side while in place in the HG it will read the actual side angle.
05/16/2013 at 3:05 am #11496Not a problem….Thanks for the quick reply…Will start using it and learning…

I just received mine today and would like if you can post some pictures of yours actually with some knives. I also read on the instructions guide that one of the advantages is that you can measure each side independently and it illustrate how, but it seems they are referring to a different instrument. Have you tried that before?
Thanks,

04/22/2013 at 2:29 pm #11080I just received my Micro Fine Ceramics this week and tried them today. When I tried the Coarse side, which is supposed to be 1.4, it felt coarser than the 1600. When I moved to the Fine side (.6), this side just seems to be fine as it should. It feels weird if you compare the 1200/1600 with these two Coarse/Fine in a sense of when you switch from 1200 to 1600, it just feel actually similar, but when you go from Coarse ceramic to Fine ceramic it feels like going from almost a 1000 jumping to a 1600.:(
Anyway, at the end the result with the Fine Ceramic was really excellent. It was super sharp. I just end up with 2000 grit 3M sand paper in which I got the mirror polish look.;)Jose
04/22/2013 at 1:13 pm #11079I just ordered one…somebody mentioned before in another thread. I haven’t heard anything negative about it…
Thanks for the feedback….:cheer:

I don’t have a Para 2 with me, I had one and sold it before I got the WE. Later on I had that issue with the Spyderco Ambitious and I solved it by lifting the handle as I expressed before. On the Para 2 you don’t have to lift the handle because it has enough clearance to reach the blade, but yes, the issue on how to reach that tail notch is a problem because the stones are to thin and the stone plastic edge is in the midle. Sorry about the confusion.
But if the edge is right into the handle as the Ambitious, that is how it worked for me.:ohmy:04/16/2013 at 7:43 pm #10888Phil,
I will post some pictures as soon as I get back home. This week I’m traveling on business.04/16/2013 at 2:08 am #10864John,
No, I’m not changing the angle at all. While the knife is set in the clamp and locked, I just unlock the knife handle and lift it up until I got the necessary clearance to reach the edge tail. It is like closing your knife but this time it is already locked in the clamp ready to be sharpen.
04/15/2013 at 11:06 am #10850Exactly….:cheer:
04/15/2013 at 10:28 am #10848Not really, the blade remained in the same position, the only thing I did was flex the handle upward to reach the actual blade tail.;)
04/15/2013 at 7:29 am #10846I managed to work on that small corner by lifting the blade handle while on the WE. While doing this I was able to reach it.
