I’m glad that you are enjoying your WE66, Toker. The Riser block didn’t help much for me. I bought a Tormek small knife holder that made sharpening tiny blades much quicker and easier.

Welcome to the Wicked Edge family, RCH! I’m glad to hear that you are enjoying your WE66 Obsidian. I remember when I got my first Wicked Edge sharpening system, I was looking for knives, scissors, and everything that I could find to sharpen up. I recommend getting a set of 50/80 stones for when you have to do some reprofiling, especially for…[Read more]

Those stones are fine. I prefer to take kitchen knives to at least 1000 grit. You will definitely want more stones if you need to do any reprofiling.

Except for the scrubbing strokes, I only use edge-following strokes, and my edges get nice and sharp. It takes a little longer, but I don’t care. When I’m sharpening a knife or something I just get in a zone like Kwai Chang Caine. lol Plus, I don’t have to worry about cutting my fingers as much.

I break my coarser stones in profiling/sharpening my chisels. Then I go to knives.

I bought a set of 50/80 stones for reprofiling. I love them but you have to be careful with them – they can shred some steel. But they save your arms and your 100 grit stones, especially when reprofiling chisels. They are worth every penny.

I bought a Tormek SVM-00 small knife holder to sharpen small blades. It’s a lot quicker and easier.

Is it a wet-belt system? If not, it will be very easy to ruin the heat treat of your blade bevels.

Well, you chose the wrong company to speak out against. I can’t believe that WE have managed to keep their prices down when just about everything else has gone up. You should be congratulating them.

Sometimes I misspell words on purpose to see if someone will jump on it like a dog on a bone. But in that case I saw it but didn’t think that it was worth the time to correct it.

It all depends upon your priorities. I hope that you don’t plan on charging me for the spelling lesson… LOL!

I see nothing wrong with the Wicked Edge prices. I own a fountain pen that costed more than the WE60 base model. WE sharpener systems are original and made in the USA. They are not building from the research & development of other companies – they do their own research & development. And as Marc pointed out, they have come down on a lot of their…[Read more]

Yeah, the jaws on mine are ground down some too. The Tormek is probably the quickest and easiest way to handle tiny blades.

I don’t have a WE120, but I would bet that you would’ve had better results using a Low Angle Adapter rather than the riser block. The quickest and easiest way for me to sharpen tiny blades is to use a Tormek SVM-00 small knife jig. It’s quick and easy.
