Okay, thanks for the advice and I will check it out. I went ahead and ordered an Advanced Alignment Guide so I can record my settings when I start to sharpen my good knives.

I worked on it a little with the 9 micron diamond lapping film and then some with my leather strop (manual) and it’s looking a lot better than before I started.
If it’s sharper and it cuts better then the not dull knife you started with, I’d say your touch-up was successful. If each time you do that it prolongs the time between needing to sharpen it, you’re doing a good job.
