Recently I’ve been thinking about getting some high quality naniwa stones for hand sharpening but i was wondering if getting the naniwa stones for the wicked edge would be a better choice. economically, the hand stones can be had for less money and they are 4 times as big as the wicked edge paddles. my diamond stones have been really wearing out and im wondering where i should invest here. thoughts?

You could get the stock size Naniwa stones, but then you’d have to find some way to cut them. And you need some blank WE paddles to attach the cut stones to. But if that’s no problem to you, and you think you’ll like them, go for it. You should note however that whetstones wear too (and a a faster rate than diamond stones) and need to be flattened from time to time.
