Hi,
Time for some dirt cheap knives discussion. I’d heard of a few chefs and home cooks buying Kiwi knives from Thailand and using them as throw aways, with a fewe people sharpening them and keeping them for years. So with a lot of good reviews it sparked my curiosity, I got two delivered for about $15 Australian I think it was.
Firstly, these knives are dirt cheap, I’m not trying to compare them to any expensive knives.
Cons: not full length Tang; look cheap; seems like quite soft metal so suspect resharpening required fairly often and steeling each use.
Pros: price, balance, sharpening potential, weight.
I have to say these bad boys are incredibly comfortable to hold, they are razor sharp and can shave hair (just) but aren’t wicked sharp, so I’m going to turn these into tomato terminators! Lol.
If possible they look cheap and cool at the same time, the deep blades make wielding them a delight on my wrists.
I’ll sharpen them up when back from holidays and post a video, excited about how these will turn out.
