Gen 3 accessories work new gen 3 2017 vise?

I now have both gen3 vises and am wondering if the jaws for the 1/4 inch blades work with the 2017 vise?

Thanks for asking. They should fit just fine. I’ve got a set of the older 1/4″ jaws in my new unit now.

Can you guys tell me what you use the 1/4″ and even 1/16″ jaws for?

Can you sharpen a Victorinox pocket knife at about 20 degrees using a 1/4″ jaw? Or using a 1/16″ jaw?

And do they have other advantages?

The 1/16″ jaws will be obsolete with the 2017 Gen 3 Vise because of the tension adjustment feature. The 1/4″ inch jaws are for knives that are over 3/16″ thick on the spine. You can sharpen relatively thin knives with the 1/4″ jaws though 1/16″ is about the minimum thickness you can clamp very securely. I’ve gotten a reasonable grip on a blade that was 0.05″ thick but didn’t feel completely confident.
