There is a tendency of new users to think their stone is worn out, as they’ve noticed a marked reduction in drag. It doesn’t feel like it’s cutting anymore. In fact, this is probably the point where you’ve finally reached the “broken-in” stage. Most or all of the diamonds which are standing proud of the surface have been broken free and now the uniform matrix of grit that’s attached directly to the plate remains. No, the stone won’t cut as quickly, but it will cut much more uniformly. Be patient and try not to apply too much pressure. Let the diamonds do the work.
